God damn it! Huffing and puffing in frustration, James got in his car.
Why does this woman like to play with me like this? Talking in riddles as if she’s Sphinx or something. What revenge? What is this bullshit?
James felt like a little mouse being played with in the claws of a cat. And that cat was Nyx. This conversation early in the morning made it impossible for James to concentrate on work. The only thing that somewhat placated him was the fact that this time, Nick didn’t leave to meet up with Nyx again.
Yet when he caught himself being smug about this, his mood worsened.
One the other hand, throughout the whole day, Nyx had been completely out of it. She could barely focus and kept zoning out. When Walter saw her like this, he was sure that something had happened. Across the table, he stretched out his arm to hold Nyx’s hand.
