After the meeting with Nova, They proceeded to talk about the upcoming announcement that they were gonna make regarding the situation.
Nova had written up an elaborate explanation that sounded really convincing yet hid most of the truth. It was a really clever way to keep everyone from panicking. And help everyone to make sense about the situation.
Although Kita didn't like hiding so much stuff from his crew, He understood the importance of keeping things a secret.
A few hours later, Everyone on-board had gathered in the in the hanger bay. The Jeager currently had a crew of 240 people.
Many of them belonged from different parts of the empire and came from all sorts of background. But one thing that was common among them was that all of them were really competent at what they did. That's why Nova had hired them.
Kita stood on a platform as he gave his speech. Everyone present listened carefully to the brilliantly crafted speech about their current predicament.
There hadn't been enough time to brief everyone before everything happened. So It had to be put down for later.
As Kita progressed in his speech, He kept his eyes forward as he noticed the expressions of his audience. From the looks of it, Most of the people were receptible to his speech. But a few of them looked skeptical.
It seemed that Nova's perfectly crafted speech wasn't enough to assure them of the recent events.
That was unfortunately expected. Nobody could please everyone all the time. There would evidently be people who remained skeptical regardless of how much assurance he provided.
Kita accepted that fact and continued his speech.
After the small meeting was concluded, There was another meeting scheduled for all the officers assigned at different departments aboard the Jeager.
In that meeting Kita commended everyone for the full cooperation during the time of need and promised that he would work towards keeping these sorts of events to a minimum.
He specially commended Hugo and his team.
They had really came through in a clutch when he most needed them. And he was grateful for that. He gave them a fat bonus for their commendable work.
After they finished with the initial phase of the meeting, They started discussing about their future plans.
"Well, I don't intend on straying from out initial plan. I still want to give that Unknown solar system a visit where they had found the blue cuboid. I don't see any reason whatsoever to change our plans." Kita stated his intentions.
Despite whoever might be after him, he wanted to find out more about the blue cuboid and it's origins. He hoped that there would be more information about the Celestrex there. So no matter what, He wanted continue their journey.
Even if someone was really after him and they were rash enough to send a hunting party after him, Then he would deal with the problem when the time came. Till then he would continue to do what he set out to do.
But, His officers didn't seem convinced.
Kita didn't care for what they thought really. He was the Captain of this ship and she would go wherever he wanted her to go and do. Anyone disagreeing with him is free to leave anytime they want. Kita would drop them off at the nearest available point where they could figure out their own way back.
Fortunately, Nova stood up and said.
"Sure, Sir. I'll get started to get us back on schedule with our initial plan. I will try my utmost to make sure that the recent events doesn't thwart our plans."
That was enough to shut everyone up and make them keep all their discontent to themselves.
They discussed a few other issues before the meeting ended.
Kita left the room and headed straight for the Lab. He needed to get his minds off of all the things that had happened recently. And the only way to do that was to distract himself.
There was no better distraction for him other than burying himself in Research.
The Jeager would be in FTL for the next few weeks. So there was nothing that needed to be done urgently.
Kita could use time and make progress in his research projects.
As He entered the Lab, He saw York already there and working on something in his own area.
Seeing Kita enter, He quickly turned to look at him.
From his looks, Kita could figure out that he wanted to talk about something Serious. Presumably about the latest event.
Unlike much of his crew, York knew more than them. York knew everything that had happened back on the Shore and was aware of the implications of Kita's actions.
"What's up?" Kita started the conversation. Awaiting York's questions.
"What really happened back there Kita?" York said as he looked straight at him. His eyes was locked on Kita and was looking at his every motion like a hawk.
"Well, I think we're being targeted by someone high up in the military." Kita explained. He didn't want to hide anything from York. He didn't need to.
York had stuck with Kita through many hardships. Kita knew that no matter what, York would always have his back. So he trusted him fully with this information.
"Who do you suspect?" York asked.
"I'm not sure. But I guess it might have something to do with the events on B1. Don't ask how I got to that conclusion. But I have a feeling that I'm on the right track."
"What?!?" That came as a shocker to York.
York had basically known Kita from their youth. He knew what Kita was capable off and where he stood in the industry.
As a leading figure and an Innovator of some of the most important technology humanity uses on a daily basis, Kita's name was quite famous in certain circles. Many people knew about his feats and his affiliation with Dr. Kbom. Another leading figure in the community.
With such fame, Came lots of enemies. York expected something along the lines that one of his enemies might have decided to targeted him after learning that he had been kicked out of the Military.
But it seemed that his assumptions were wrong. It might be another load of mess altogether.
