When one said wealthy companies had massive offices or workplaces, then limitless Inc. headquarters were nothing short of massive. The building was a towering structure made of gleaming metal and glass, with four entrances located at the corners of the building. Each entrance was grand and imposing, with high ceilings and wide doors that slid open automatically to admit employees and visitors. It really resembled a stadium as you looked at it from the outside. The building was a symbol of the company's power and if anything anyone who worked here had something new to boast about when they met their friends.
Unfortunately one of the entrances had been blocked by a group of armored men, these men belonged to Dragonsgate, the army corp of the Jade Imperium. No one would not recognize their signature red & black colored battle suits with a dragon logo proudly situated at the suits right chest area. 15 soldiers with slick but bulky suits stood back as their captain moved to welcome Leon when he got off the bus. His suit seemed to be of higher quality than his comrades as it gleamed in the sunlight. Golden lines wove through it bringing a sense of sophistication. Throughout the suit one could see battle scars sprinkled all over it, which only served to make its wearer more intimidating.
"President Leon, I trust you have been well." He spoke as he ignored the various employees of limitless dodging their area and moving around them. Those with cars reversed and went a different direction entirely.
"Captain" said Leon, thanks to his goggles with a database of many individuals he could recognize this man. "Captain Basil"
"Excuse me, I forgot to introduce myself, Captain Basil of Dragonsgate, I am with the rapid response team." He said as he smiled, the scales on his face bending to its changing contours and his slanted eyes blinking and narrowing, he was a proud Lizardmen. "I assume you know why we are here, as standard procedu-"
"I understand the procedures of Dragonsgate" Leon cut him off and continued "however I was out to fetch one of our employees. So I don't think this is a problem."
"is that so? We don't know of this new employee. Is he registered?" asked Basil as he tilted his head. He had heard about how the government has never really won against Leon in terms of catching evolved. 'It seems we are too late' thought basil.
It was easier said than done intercepting smart vehicles these days, Regular vehicles and smart vehicles moved using different roads. And therefore smart vehicles moved efficiently thanks to advanced AI and were often very very fast. It hadn't even taken long for them to travel nearly a 100KM and the fact that the president used the best vehicles money could buy, only meant they couldn't even engage the vehicle AI and lead them to a stop. But really everyone knew that by the time an evolved began talking with a private organization in the absence of the government, it was already a loss. What this all was, was simply Dragonsgate being Tyrannical. Still many private organizations had been caught sleeping by these tactics, and the government was always first in talking with evolved. Yet limitless was one of the companies that still evaded them to this day and had yet to suffer a loss, the books were clean and the organizations higher ups stayed clean and out of sight.
"Greyham please come down to meet the captain." Said Leon.
Grey had been watching the whole thing unfold with Boris and when called he delayed his action because it was unexpected. He suddenly felt his wheelchair float and move forward to the Lizardmen and Leon.
As he got closer he now understood the stature of the Lizardmen, he matched the height of Greyham who was sitting down on a wheelchair. Yet even though it felt as though he was skinny. In reality his body had been honed to perfection.
'Hmm this cripple is an evolved? Doesn't look like one.' Thought basil as he studied Greyham who felt uncomfortable with the way the Lizardmen was looking at him. This wasn't his first time seeing a Lizardmen but most of the one's he saw towered nearly twice the size of ordinary humans. But something about this captain gave off an eerie feeling even if he was shot.
"Please show me what you can do so far as an evolved. We need to understand your capabilities to determine if you are fit for society or will require extra orientation before being let out again." Said Basil.
"Captain Basil, perhaps you missed the part where I said this evolved is under our protection?" retorted Leon. He squinted and said "You are not important enough to warrant protection from Dragonsgate I assure you." Said Leon.
'Hehe that was a threat right? Scary I've heard that even the higher ups are wary of Leon. Perhaps in this entire planet he is one of the only people who can threaten a Dragonsgate Captain. This kind of wealth is indeed domineering. Still he is the president of limitless, this kind of organization would not survive if it had a rabbit for a president.' Thought Basil.
"Calm down President Leon, this is simply procedure." As Basil said this he felt the air around him get heavier.
"Grey can you show him?" said Leon.
'Where does President Leon get the balls to threaten a captain?' Greyham could harly believe what he had just heard. Even a homebody like him had heard of how captains are different breed from other evolved.
"Yes sir." Said Greyham as he saw Leon in a different light and simply floated from his wheelchair leaving it behind, after a moment who floated back down. "This is all I can do for now. I still don't know what else I can do."
Basil looked behind him and said "did you get that?"
One of the soldiers had a goggle like device, it was beeping. "Yes sir I wasn't able to detected anything out of the ordinary but I could also detect no waves when he floated." Said the soldier behind.
'That is strange indeed.' Both Leon and Basil thought the same thing. Evolved simply let out waves of power whenever that power was used. It was like a leak of water on a tap after it was used. Experienced individuals could train to hide or control this leak but most used artifacts to erase the leaks entirely. Where there an artifact on Greyham it would have been detected. "There isn't much we can do now anyways. We will see more during his test."
"Alright I think we are done here. We will take our leave. Squad Roll Out!" said Basil as he began to float "Leon, that temper of yours will get you in trouble one day." Basil dashed away after saying that followed by his squad.
"Captain, you underestimate salarymen." He glanced at Greyham. "Good job, I'm sorry about that, these guys are getting antsy around us. I'm just about fed up. Said Leon. "Okay guys lets head in, we have a lot of work to do."
Both Boris and Greyham took a look at each other and then followed Leon. Boris had seen too much to take into heart but Greyham had a different thought. 'While talking in the bus, the government was already making moves. But Leon was a step ahead. It was true about what he said even they can't stop information from going out. It seems things out here aren't as simple as the sky. ' Greyham was a very observant person. He had already started taking notes.
He was impressed by the interior of the Limitless building. The Inside atmosphere was bustling, with employees moving to and from their various duties in the various departments of the company. The building was equipped with advanced technology, including elevators that could transport employees quickly and efficiently between the different floors. One could see this via the blinking of a particular hollow spot in the building and people coming out one by one as though they were being printed.
But beyond all this what captured Greyham's attention was a wide stadium like space with people inside doing various thing. This one facility had taken a lot of the limitless building space. There was no doubt though. These were evolved. Many of them young, it was his first time seeing evolved that were probably the same age as him.
As they walked through, Leon began. "Welcome to limitless, an inter-space multi-service company. We operate in 27 sectors and have thousands of facilities across the galaxy just like this one, we deal in the business of Evolved of course, we facilitate various services for our clients, for example, the management, training and education of especially younger evolved. We also help evolved medically among other things. Many evolved leave this building having unlocked their limitless potentials." Said Leon proudly.
"What kind of clients do you work with?" asked Greyham as they entered an elevator. Before they had to step out again. It didn't event take 10 seconds. 'Amazing.' Greyham thought marveling at the technology of the teleportation elevator.
"We service anyone with the coin really, however many of the people we work with are influential individuals or someone connected to them. Let's say they prefer our subtleties. "
'heh could have fooled me, the government at your door step not long ago proves otherwise.' Thought Greyham still the facility was indeed impressive by all accounts. It seemed to have everything. They soon arrived at Leon's office. It was simple with a large window allowing warm light to shine on everything in the room.
Leon sat his office chair that floated from the ground. The table seemed classic nothing but a large brown table. Nothing was special about it. Boris came up to their seats and move one of the seats away to that Greyham could park his wheelchair. They sat side by side.
"Let's talk about your healing procedure." Started Leon. "it won't take too long but it will not be comfortable. I assure you though this will put you on your feet within an hour." He finished off.
"An Hour? That fast?" asked Boris 'I thought they were going to do surgery.' He couldn't understand. He thought it was going to a be long and arduous healing process.
"Ha-ha Boris medicine has change much since you last left." He responded "Technology has advanced too much that we can nearly wake the dead right now. What we are going to do for Grey will be a combination of Magic & Technology."
'Magic?' Thought Greyham but it synchronized with is mouth and found himself blurting that out loud.
"Yes Magic." Leon smiled.
