Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

7 Months Later.

"How long has he been doing that?"

"8 Hours and counting roughly"

"Really? Doesn't today mark the 3rd month in which he has been flying around like that constantly? "

"I know evolved are better than regular beings but this isn't right. He's seething, He's infact obsessed about flying."

"His nurses have reprimanded him frequently, even the President had to come and talk to him for a bit."

"Did it work?"

"He stopped for like one day but he came back again."

These employee's had come in to see Greyham flying every single day for the past few months and when they clocked out of work, he would still be flying around. However they had no idea that these days he barely even touched the ground. When he has sleeping, he floated. Eating, he floated. It was to the point that President Leon had gotten worried, just because some evolved could fly did not mean they could do it constantly like Greyham. Stamina was a limitation that affected even Evolved beings. On top of that limitation, power draw was something to consider, which would add to the level of fatigue that one would feel. If one overdrew their power they could find themselves fainting or worse, dead.

Although busy, Dr. Elias was forced to briefly stop by limitless headquarters and check up on Grey. He found that his power levels were low and he was a bit fatigued however healthy, armed with this information President Leon reprimanded Greyham and banned him from flying around. But Grey simply went to fly outside the headquarters.

Greyham had a good personality. He was vibrant and kind to others. He never put others down and never acted funny or pompous simply because he is an Evolved. Except for his obsession for flight. It was strong like a compulsive habit. These days he barely even recognized when he was floating. This way everyone gave up on stopping Greyham from flying. Warning him was useless. Thus he gained a nickname among the staff members of limitless – skyboy.

"Eh Skyboy, how are you today" a Lizardman uncle greeted Greyham. He had a little stub for a bearded but it looked like moss on him. This particular lizard man was one of many staff members that he talked to on a daily basis.

"Ah I'm fine Uncle Moss."

"Hey don't call me that. I'm Uncle Jiri – okay?"

"Ha-ha name is Greyham not Skyboy." Retorted Greyham.

"Tsk… are you prepared for today?" asked Uncle Moss.

Today was a special day for Greyham. He was going to get his powers tested. He was put into an orientation class where he learned everything about Evolved. He learned that there were 3 types of Evolved.

The Forma – Forma users are beings that have abilities that only influence them or their bodies. They could use their abilities to strengthen themselves, enhance their bodies or even completely alter it beyond recognition. If the power only influenced them and nothing else they were then classified as forma users. The greatest of these users were said to have such strength that they could tear the fabrics of space and render objects to dust through sheer raw power.

The Alter – These were users with abilities that affected the environment around them. They had abilities that allowed them to change whatever their senses could perceive. A good example for this kind of abilities was the ability to control the elements. Like Fire for example and burn whatever they liked. The greatest of these abilities like Time Manipulation was pretty self-explanatory, one could stop the time of their immediate environment and move around freely.

The Unique – These abilities are hybridized powers of Forma & Alters. They are usually the strongest abilities one could have. They could affect both themselves and the environment at will. The greatest of these powers are not "abilities" but rather techniques that allow one to learn how to be a unique or to learn to utilize multiple abilities for example Magic or Cultivation. The only requirements for either Magic or Cultivation was to have an affinity for it otherwise you could not use any of these powers techniques. The greatest of these powers were often tricky to deal with, offering less weaknesses than either Alters or Formas for others to exploit.

Of course each of these classes had their own benefits and weaknesses, For example the Forma's tended to be harder to kill on average. Their defense was the best of the 3 classes. However the truly strong Forma's were able exhibit multiple forma abilities making them extremely efficient in hurting their opponents before they could be damaged in battle. The problem was that they could not hit harder than the other 2 classes. They were susceptible to range attacks among many other problems such as speed.

The Alters on the other hand were capable of far greater damage and could even snipe opponents that were far away. They were far more useful in group battles and could completely dominate that space. A truly strong alter could cripple an entire army but what made them scary was that some alter abilities were so extreme it made its users seem like Unique users. It was the belief of society that Alter powers were the gateway powers to one becoming a unique. Therefore Alters were more favored compared to Forma's. All things considered one could imagine how broken Unique's could truly become if they were to be blessed by God.

"I'm nervous." Said Greyham unsure what to expect.

"Ha-ha don't worry about it." Uncle Moss had been an employee of Limitless Inc. for a very long time. He had long seen many younglings discover their powers and go on to chase their dreams. To begin with he had once been in that position too. Now he sometimes even forgot he was an Evolved. He was a non-combat evolved with the ability to see through any solid material and could also camouflage himself with said material. He was forma that would be appreciated in covert operations. But he could never do that his mama would toss in her grave and rise up to come and spank him. Thinking of that he chuckled and proceeded on his way.

Grey went to President Leon's office, Leon made time for Grey whenever he could. However he was often never around and when he did come it was only for inspection and to handle some important business. Today was one such day. All the new recruits of Limitless would converge on the Summerfield facility to test their Power Class.

Since Leon wasn't at his office he now had to head over to the testing grounds alone.

When he got to the test ting grounds he found it was filled with about 25 -30 people roughly. Each mingling with someone. The testing grounds were an open area, just large enough to fit a 100 people. The entire room was tiled with a strange blue wall. The seating areas were arranged in a tiered configuration, and there was a large orb in the center of the room. This orb was the object used to conduct the tests, and it would measure the abilities or powers of whoever touched it.

If one glanced up, they would notice that there was also a special booth where important figures would watch the testing procedure from a safe distance. The booth was equipped with the latest audio-visual technology, which allowed them to monitor the tests in real-time.

Greyham could see President Leon there, standing to lady who looked to have red hair, who simply nodded at him 'so he was already here'. Grey moved to sit on one of the seats waiting for instructions.

"is that him?" the lady asked. "He doesn't look like much."

"Ha-ha Skylar, give him a chance." Said Leon.

"Okay. You've been telling me about this one for a while now. He better be worth the hype." Said Skylar. Ever since a few months ago Leon had been raving about a good recruit who was diligent. He had praised Grey until her ears fell off. Naturally she had come to see him today since there was a chance he would be assigned to her team.

A man walked into the room, dress in elegant but black clothing. This was Dr. Elias.

"Welcome to the testing grounds ladies and gentlemen. Today is the day you have all been waiting for. After today you leave here understanding a little bit more about yourself. Whatever your ability. There is a place for everyone at limitless. We don't discriminate. I'm living proof of the culture and ideals of the limitless incorporated. You will have been given your test numbers last night. This way you understand when you should step up if you are called." Said Dr.Elias gulping and clearing his throat.

Greyham got a message last night from his communication device. They said he was number "15" remembering that. He understood that his turn would arrive swiftly. Dr. Elias began calling out numbers.

The test had officially begun.
