Chapter 90 - Roach

In a distant place, Ava in a serene and captivating bedroom. She stood there, gently holding a plush, emerald green tail, preparing to settle down for the night. Suddenly, a wave of unease washed over her, causing her heart to ache. Instinctively aware of the origin, she dashed out of her room, determined to investigate.

In another corner of the distance, within Kate's bedroom, the mother of Chase was fast asleep. However, a jolt of distress pierced through her slumber, instantly rousing her with a wave of concern. Praying that her fears were unfounded, she felt tears welling up as her mind grappled with unsettling thoughts. Yet, within the depths of her eyes, a resilient glimmer of resolve burned even more intensely than before.

Returning to the scene, Chase's lifeless form collapsed to the ground, catching Luna's unwavering gaze. A sense of unease crept over her, causing her anticipation to morph into genuine concern. Abruptly, the moon underwent a haunting transformation, casting its crimson hue upon Chase, as his presence twisted into a nightmarish scene. The atmosphere thickened with an otherworldly tension, causing shadows to contort and squirm beneath the sickly red moonlight. The ground itself quivered with a foreboding sensation, while an unsettling chill pervaded the surroundings, eliciting a shiver that rippled through Luna's fur.

Chase's once-human features contorted and stretched, assuming a monstrous countenance that merged the grotesque with the sublime. Within his form, his shattered heart was reconstructed into a heart of obsidian darkness. His previously red and white half-blood cells, emblematic of his dhampir nature, underwent a transformation, turning crimson and black. His six-five feet stature diminished to a mere six feet, while his claws and fangs grew to an impressive length of five inches, each point honed to a razor-sharp precision. His eyes blazed with an infernal crimson glow, their silent gaze a harbinger of impending dread and downfall. Amidst his transformation, a solitary horn of jet-black erupted from the left side of his skull, its jagged form curving ominously towards the heavens.

Shadows coalesced around Chase, enveloping his figure in a swirling shroud of inky darkness that undulated like a sentient force. Emerging from this enigmatic darkness were grotesque appendages contorted limbs, gnarled claws, and sinuous tendrils, each bearing its own malevolent intent.

With an abrupt motion, Chase rose from his position and advanced, causing the ground to quake beneath him. In his wake, a trail of fleeting shadows danced and shimmered. The very fabric of reality seemed to distort, as if the presence of Chase, now a vampire, tugged at the boundaries between the material world and the realm of existence. The air itself resonated with a dissonant symphony, evoking a sensation of both dread and reverence. A few trees away, Arachnia gaze fixated on Chase in a mixture of fear and astonishment, her hand involuntarily covering her mouth. Her mind raced, pondering the nature of Chase's transformation and the extraordinary events unfolding before her eyes.

"What in the world are you?" Luna exclaimed in terror, her fear heightened by the unprecedented display of power and the unparalleled transformation of Chase into a being like no other. "You damned Roach!"

The unbridled surge of energy overwhelmed Chase's restraint. His control dissipated entirely, causing the atmosphere to become saturated with his potent force, the very core of his vampiric essence engulfing him. A primal roar erupted, rending through the forest and causing Luna's ears to throb painfully. Archina hastily covered her ears, shielding them from the cacophony. In the wake of his deafening roar, Chase released a shockwave of energy that propelled Luna backward, colliding with a towering tree, her agonized scream echoing through the air.

Chase's gaze suddenly fixated on Luna, his eyes radiating an intense crimson luminescence. The mere act of locking eyes with him sent tendrils of fear and paralysis coursing through her, eroding her resolve and weakening her ability to stand.' I want to leave, but his gaze is unbelievably intense I can't muster the strength to move,' fear raced through her thoughts.

"You, hunter's, believe you're acting in the best interest of the world," Chase's voice resonated deeply, its timbre carrying a profound weight. His words emanated from the very abyss, possessing an authority that seemed drawn from the core of the shadows themselves.

Stepping forward, Chase's form melded seamlessly into the shadows, vanishing from sight. In the blink of an eye, he materialized before Luna, emerging from the darkness itself..

Chase extended his newly formed hands composed of swirling shadows. "But the day will come when hunters cease to exist," he intoned, his hand outstretched, conjuring a colossal shadowy appendage that surged from the ground. The immense hand reached forth, ensnaring Luna in its vice-like grip, rendering her immobile and forcing her gaze to remain locked onto his eyes, her face a tableau of panic and horror.

"In light, we triumph!" Luna's sudden cry reverberated, but before her words could take hold, the enormous shadowy hand closed in, crushing her mercilessly within its grasp as her body disappeared into the darkness.

In a swift transition, Chase's form rapidly reverted to that of a normal human. He collapsed to the ground face-first as Archina, noticing the abrupt change, hurried over in a panic. She knelt by Chase's side, examining him with concern, before gently lifting him and hastening back to the tavern, a sense of urgency propelling her every step..

In a sprawling, verdant realm comprised of majestic crystal structures, away from Chase's turmoil, within the grand round table chamber of Ethelia resplendent castle, a group of men gathered around. Their focus was a young, strikingly beautiful woman. Lady Isabella, the queen of Ethelia blonde, possessed wavy blonde hair that cascaded elegantly.

"My queen, we perceive heavy footsteps approaching from the north," one nobly attired man at the table spoke, his tone respectful yet urgent.

"Are you suggesting what I fear you are?" Lady Isabella queried, her voice tinged with shock and her sweet tones momentarily disrupted by a memory that had stirred concern within her.

"Yes, Your Majesty," another nobleman responded with evident unease.

Reacting swiftly, Lady Isabella rose from her seat. "Quickly, raise the protective shield and prepare all for what's to come," she directed, her words flowing urgently with minimal pause. Her arched eyebrow revealed her worry.

"My queen, there's something else," the nobleman added, his voice holding a sense of something deeper, something resonating from his very soul.

"What is it?" she inquired with haste, her gaze flicking back to the nobleman.

"I can't quite explain, but there was a roar just now. It felt... ominous," he confessed, his apprehension evident.

Lady Isabella considered the nobleman's words, the memory of that enigmatic roar lingering in her thoughts. Yet, she recognized the immediate priority. "For now, focus on addressing this situation. We must attend to this first," she declared, her decision made. Swiftly, she departed the room, her retinue following suit as they executed her previous orders.

The next day inside the taven chase was wrappened in bandasge from head to toe, and archina in the room watching over him.

Chase's eyes fluttered open, the sensation of pain coursing through his entire body. "Ahh!" he let out a pained grunt, causing Arachnia to swiftly turn around and face him.

Chase's gaze trailed over his bandaged body. "Mmm, what transpired?" he inquired, drawing a blank on the events.

"You truly can't recall?" Arachnia probed, her gaze fixed on Chase, assessing his sincerity.

Gritting his teeth, Chase suddenly exclaimed, "Ahh!" A sharp pang of pain coursed through his head as he recollected fragments of the previous night, his memory blanking after his vision darken, and he succumbed to unconsciousness.

His fists clenched and jaw tight, Chase urgently asked, "What happened to the hunter, Luna?" Worry etched across his face with a mix of concern and anxiety..

Sliding her hand into the snug pocket of her jeans, Arachnia spoke with a concealed tone, "What hunter." She aimed to shield the details of the incident from Chase. "I sensed something amiss and went searching, only to discover you in a forest, injured and bleeding," she recounted.

Chase exhaled audibly, his demeanor softening a touch. "I understand," he responded, yet an underlying tension lingered as he noticed the telltale hastening of Arachnia's heartbeat. 'There's more she's not revealing,' he contemplated, grappling with the intricacies of the situation and how to gently coax out the truth.

Turning his attention to the glass vials on the side table, he raised an eyebrow. "So, you tended to me?" he inquired.

"Indeed," Arachnia replied. After bringing Chase back to the tavern last night, she scurried around the city in search of assistance, gathering bandages through pleas and even pilfering.

Chase's smile was genuine, a warmth he hadn't experienced since Ava and his mother, radiating gratitude. "Okay, thank you," he expressed appreciatively, although he suddenly felt a craving for blood, his body utilizing its remaining resources to heal.

Pushing through the pain, Chase rose to his feet. "Come here," he urged Arachnia urgently. However, Arachnia remained rooted in place, hands in pockets, regarding Chase with a fearful gaze..

Chase's gaze fell upon Arachnia, who remained motionless, stiff as a board. "What's wrong? Why do you look so frightened?" he inquired, as Arachnia simply shook her head.

"Alright, I am a vampire. I'm not sure if you've sensed it, but my thirst is growing stronger. I need a bit of your wrist for some blood," he explained hastily, aware of his growing urge.

'Now, I understand that you're a vampire, but what I witnessed last night certainly didn't resemble a vampire,' Arachnia thought. Nonetheless, she stepped forward and placed her wrist into Chase's hands..

Gently grasping her delicate wrist, he reassured her, "Don't worry, you'll only feel a slight sting." His fangs emerged as he proceeded to bite into her wrist.

"Mmm!" Arachnia let out a soft moan in response to the slight pain, feeling the warmth of her blood flowing.

Abruptly, the tranquility was shattered by the resounding clang of a loud noise and the heavy thump of footsteps.
