Chereads / A Vampire Knight's Destiny / Chapter 64 - Destroyed

Chapter 64 - Destroyed

After Chase left the Talia kingdom, still dressed in bandages from head to toe, headed back home to talk to his mom about what to do as his mother has always been like a mentor to him.

"What happened to my house?" he said, taken aback by the sight before him. "Mom!" he shouted, his heart fully up with anger as he ran down the hill. As he got closer to his house, he spotted long claw marks across the ground and walls, like scars of a fierce battle that had taken place here.

Chase's heart started to be fast"What happened to my house" he said taken back"Mom!" He shouted his heart fully up with anger as he ran down the hill, as he got closer to his house he spotted long claw mark across the ground and walls, destroyed, ground and tree from magic attacks, there seem to be a huge battle here.

"Mom!" he shouted, worried about his mother, as he jumped through the house's destroyed rooftop, landing inside. Every room was destroyed by claw, sword, and magic, like a chaotic whirlwind had torn through the place. Chase started sniffing a listening to see if he hear or smell his mom, as he couldn't panic started set, dashing around the house looking for his mother as he still didn't find her.

"My damn guitar," Chase spotted his classical guitar, in his past life, he played a lot of instruments, but he perfected the classical guitar, so he decided to make one. Kneeling down and picking up his guitar, he noticed a paper attached, and he picked up the paper, seeing his mother's handwriting.

"Mom," he said softly, as he started to read the paper. As he read, 'Chase, I'm sure you're reading this. While I don't know exactly when, I'm sure you've already changed into something no one wants to become in this world. I know you want to know about your father and why you're a vampire, but only by getting stronger, you shall know your destiny, only by having power you shall have everything. I learned that the hard way. I can't be there to protect you anymore. I have my own battle to fight, and don't worry, I'm fine.'

Very far, walking in a deep, flourishing forest, was Chase's mother Kate, her hands and legs bound by chains. "I hope you're doing good, Chase," she said softly, her voice like a distant whisper. "Shut up and walk," two men on the side said, their voices like cold winds cutting through the forest.

Back in Chase's house, he put the paper into his inventory and stood. "I should look around to find any clues," he said out loud, his voice resolute like a knight preparing for a quest.

Chase started walking around the house, spotting vampire claws similar to his, almost everything in his house destroyed. "Snif, Snif," he started sniffing as he smelled a certain strong smell.

"Blood!" Chase said in a deep voice, walking toward outside the side of his house, there splat of blood, he got closer, smelling the blood. Once he got the certain smell, his eyes shrank, realizing he had fought someone very dangerous, like a predator sensing the presence of a formidable foe.

"Well, there's nothing else here for me," Chase said out loud, looking around the ruins of his once-happy home. "There's another kingdom around here. I should go there and find out what else to do from there," he decided, like a wandering knight seeking a new path.

Chase took off all his bandages; there wasn't a scratch on his body after getting his regeneration ability back. He then took a bath, put on his clothes that he struggled to put on with his missing arm.

Wearing a flowing midnight-black cape with a subtle sheen that draped gracefully over a tailored dark velvet coat, he looked like a shadow of mystery in the moonlight. Beneath the coat, a crisp white silk shirt with a high, ruffled collar added an air of elegance to his appearance. Completing the ensemble were black leather gloves, slightly fingerless, adding a touch of flair to his attire, like a charismatic figure from a dark fairy tale.

Chase then spent the next hour slowly walking toward another kingdom called Ethelia. Ethelia was founded centuries ago by a benevolent sorceress named Lady Isabella, who possessed extraordinary powers and a heart full of compassion, like a legendary tale etched into the kingdom's history. Legend has it that Lady Isabella stumbled upon a hidden valley, enchanted with a potent mix of magic and nature's beauty. Moved by the serenity of the place, she decided to build a castle at its center, crafted from the rarest crystals and infused with her own magic. This castle would later become the Castle of Ethelia, serving as the seat of power for the kingdom, like a beacon of hope and strength in the realm.

Finally, he arrived at Ethelia, and he paid 3 gold to enter, which is a lot lower than in many other kingdoms. Inside, all the people looked very cheerful, like a festive celebration unfolding.

'Now, where should I head first?' Chase thought, looking around until he saw "The Guild of Enchanters" to the Kingdom of Ethelia. The Guild of Enchanters was an esteemed organization composed of skilled and talented magic-users, dedicated to the art of enchantment and the preservation of magical knowledge within the kingdom, but there were still warpower users that came here, like a haven for magic and might.

Entering, everyone looked toward him, noticing his missing arm, like curious gazes examining a mysterious puzzle.

"What is he doing here with a missing arm?" one adventurer whispered to another.

"Does he think he can still do anything without an arm?" another remarked skeptically.

"What's with his presence?" someone else wondered aloud, like a group of observers dissecting a peculiar sight.

Hearing what the last adventurer said, Chase's eyebrow raised, hoping that they couldn't discern he's a vampire just by his presence like a secret hunter evading the eyes of his pursuers.

While walking toward the quest board, he thought, 'I hope my dhampir bloodline doesn't show up on my card,' knowing that he would have to show his card for quests. While looking at the quest board, he took up four monster hunts, like a valiant knight choosing his quests for the kingdom's defense. Although he wanted more to upgrade his adventurer rank from E to D, he didn't want to do quests alone forever, like a lone wolf seeking companionship in the wilderness. After choosing his quests, he headed toward the elf clerk.

The elf clerk, similar-looking to Ema from the crimson guild, looked at his missing arm before looking back at his face. "Hi, adventurer. I'm Emily," she said with a smile, her voice like a song of welcome. "What can I do for you?"

'Ema and Emily, are they sisters?' Chase wondered briefly, placing down all the quests he wanted to do and hesitated before handing them to Emily. He paid extra attention to her expression, searching for any signs that she saw his bloodline, luckily, it never showed his vampire lineage, and Emily gave back his card without any problems.

Afterward, he headed to the kingdom's blacksmith and bought a new spear after his old one broke.
