Amidst the sorrowful aftermath of the battlefield, Chase and the remaining knights solemnly made their way back to the Taila Kingdom with the carts filled with the fallen bodies of their comrades. Upon their return, they were greeted by Freya, standing atop a platform, trying to maintain her composure despite the evident sadness in her eyes.
Chase and the Others arrived in front of Freya, she looked at them and saw they were sad"So what happened did we win or lose"
Hearing what Freya asked Ava was angry that She inquired about the outcome of the battle, more concerned about victory than the loss of their knights.,but Ava had to swallow her anger.
"We won," Chase replied, his voice heavy with grief about this war.
Freya seemed pleased with the victory, clapping her hands excitedly, "Great news, I knew it was the right choice choosing you four to be the army generals".
Chase couldn't help but express his anger. "What does winning matter when we've lost so many knights? We had 700 Knights, and now we're reduced to 200 or less."
Freya looked at the remaining army who was depressed and tired then back at Chase "Chase I'm sure you know this already but this is war there will always be casualties"Freya tried to justify the casualties, telling them that war always comes with a price.
Ava couldn't keep her anger contained and spoke up, frustrated with Freya's lack of concern for the fallen knights. "If it wasn't for your plan, many of them could have been saved!"
"Ava, I'm sorry," Freya said, her voice now tender, "But war is a cruel beast. Even if it wasn't entirely my plan, casualties would still have been inevitable."
'What does she mean 'It wasn't entirely my plan' Then who was it'Ava couldn't help but wonder whose plan had led them to such a devastating outcome, but she kept her thoughts to herself, her anger tempered by the current situation.
"For the next few days after a rest, you all will inform the family of the fallen knight as well their families will be compensated, also there will be a burial so make sure to attend "Freya shouted out loud getting her voice across to the other knights."You can leave now"
The other remaining knight started walking away sad with depressed body movements, but Chase and others stood there in front of Freya.
"So how many green griffin knights did you all kill?"Freya asked scanning everyone's expression and making sure to keep count of the number.
"180!"
"173!"
"165!"
Chase, Alex, and Ava said out loud at the same time but Luke keep quiet.
"Boo, yah I go the highest"Chase excited shouted throwing his fist in the air.
Alex looked at Chase frustrated by Chase boasting that he got a higher kill count than him.
When Freya looked at Luke she saw he was doing 169 with his hands.
"Well depending on your kill count there certain reward in the future, "Freya said excited about the numbers that they had gotten.
Everyone nodded with the hope that the rewards are actually good.
"Well you all are dismissed until the burial, "Freya said waving them off.
In the next few days Chase, Ava, Alex, and just like before Luke didn't come so the other knight deliver the news to the family of the knights that their sons and daughter, died in the war and fought bravely to the very end of the battle, The families were extremely saddened by the news that some became angry with the kingdom.
The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden hue over the vast graveyard field where countless caskets lay on the ground Chase, Ava, Alex, and Luke were surrounded by their fellow knights, all adorned in fresh blue eagle knight armor, the knights gathered to bid their final farewell to all the fallen comrades, but some reason Freya wasn't here so everyone decides to continue without her.
"Ohh, my poor daughter why did you have to go an die"
Some families weep filled with sadness by their children's death as other knights tried to cheer them up and lessen their burdens.
While other families were angry with the kingdom and its king.
"If it wasn't for this dam kingdom, the king couldn't at least come to their burial"
Chase, Ava, and Alex, their commander of the army, looked upon the casket-filled fallen knights with heavy hearts, they had led them into battle, and now he must honor them in death, their revealing eyes filled with sorrow, they all stepped forward to address the assembled knights.
"My brethren and sister," Chase's voice rang out, strong and yet laced with emotion, "Today, we gather to pay our final respects to our fallen comrades. They fought bravely, with unwavering loyalty and unmatched spirit. Let us give them the honor they deserve, for they shall forever be remembered as heroes."
With a nod from Chase, then the knights began to prepare the burial site, digging deep trenches to lay their fallen brethren to rest. Sweat mingled with tears as they worked tirelessly, for these fallen knights were not just comrades-in-arms; they were brothers, sisters, and friends.
Chase approached Ava noticing she was extremely sad, placing a hand on Ava's shoulder. "They're all great knights, who fought for the right thing and know they're protecting their families," Ava said, her voice filled with empathy. "While we may not have been with some of them too long, their loss weighs heavily on us all."
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and gold, the burial was completed. The knights stood in a solemn circle around the graves holding hands, their heads bowed in a moment of silence to honor the fallen. Each knight remembered the bravery, camaraderie, and sacrifice of their departed comrades.
Alex, Chase, Ava, and Luke raised their sword high, and the knights followed suit, creating a powerful display of respect and honor. "To our fallen brethren!" Alex declared, his voice echoing across the battlefield. "May their spirits find peace in the realm of Valoria, and may their memories inspire us to carry on their legacy of being a knight."
"To our fallen brethren!" the knights chorused, their voices resolute and unwavering.
As night fell, the knights lit torches, illuminating the graves like beacons of light in the darkness. They stood there, united in their grief and determination to honor the fallen. In the face of tragedy, the bond between these knights only grew stronger.
And so, in the heart of the graveyard, an army of knights paid their final respects to their fallen comrades, promising to carry their memory forward and strive to be worthy of the title of knight left behind on that hallowed ground.
One by one, the other knights stepped forward, placing the last weapon each knight had and tokens of remembrance upon the cold earth beside their resting place, Each knight murmured heartfelt words.
