" What are you trying to cover up ?, it's not like I have not seen all of this before. And just this morning you didn't mind showing off your beautiful body to the world , including a potential enemy "
That caught her attention , and all the arguments left her mouth " What do you mean a potential enemy ? After me? Are my sisters going to be alright ? "
It was beautiful that she was thinking about her sisters at that moment when she should be thinking about herself , he liked that about her , her selfless attitude.
She was out of bed before he could stop her, and when he realized that it was not to get the robe , he wished he had allowed her to stand up since he got there, he has missed her , missed her body , and it was driving him crazy.
" But why ? why are they after me ?"
" That night , what did you hear ? Is there anything you can remember that can help me at all , I need to know something about this guy to be able to do something , Viktor said he does not know anything about him and I cannot do anything if I cannot even get a name. I could not figure out a scent either , to be able to trace him " He looked worried and it pained her to see him that way.
" Viktor? Damn you Conri , this is all happening because of you , because you came here , my sisters and I was doing just great before you showed up "
" Okay. . . But first, I want you to get out of my room, I don't want to be in the same space with you "
" oh come on, don't be like that you're breaking my heart. I came all this way for you "
" Well, Conri I didn't ask you to come," she said moving away from him emphasizing on what she had just said.
" Kyra ! What the heck is wrong with you ? "
" Nothing , as you can see . I am perfectly fine. I am with a family that loves me , a pack that cares and everything has been going great. Well, until you . . . Until you showed up"
That hurt him , and she knew, she could see the look on his face. She knows how he is when something gets to him . She knows he was there because of her and for the fact that she was rejecting him and whatever he was offering was like a blow to his jaw. But since he didn't say anything, she continued.
" Since Viktor is here, and he must have come here for me or for you , but either way, I don't think I should be near you. It is only because of you this is happening in the first place. Conri , they are dangerous, I don't think I need to spell that out for you, you of all people should know how serious and determined Dante is. He does not just give up "
" Calm down Kyra , we don't even know why Viktor was here at all. He said he is not here for you and I will like to believe that, he has no reason to lie to me "
He looked at her , He had forgotten how she looked up close, Her eyes , they could be as peaceful and clear as the sea and wild as the sea can get at the same time. Being in the same room with her and seeing her in ways he had only dreamed about for the past three years was overwhelming for him. He wanted to hold her right there and make love to her , show her just how much he has missed her and just how much he cannot live without her even for an additional day.
He had in every way helped her escape, but she didn't know that. She didn't know the risk he put himself and the future of everyone who depended on him, she didn't know the number of humans that were sacrificed because he wanted to do right by her. She didn't know the risks he had taken , and the consequences he had gotten for his actions. She does not know any of that. But he knew that she was in the situation because of him in the first place , she and her sisters had been put in danger because of him and he was the cause of so many things , there was not a reason to dispute that. He was truly responsible for a lot of things , but mainly because of the fears he had put in her, because of the fear he was seeing in her eyes , as he looked into them. She was not a Luna who quickly frightens.
Originally, her blood is pure , not tainted. She didn't have to worry so much about her hold in the pack. Her only problem was that she and her sisters had lost their parents , leaving only her to cater to her sisters, even at a such young age, even before she had her first shift. But she had fallen in love , fallen in love with him, and trusted him like he had persuaded her to do , depending on him to make everything perfect for her and her sisters . And then , just when he was about to become an Alpha , he had lost her trust. He betrayed her.
" Why did you not look for me ? I looked for you everywhere , but I could not find you, Kyra. Why did you not look for me? "
Kyra closed her eyes allowing the pain to slightly wash over her, she had lived with the pain for so long it was becoming a part of her now . She didn't want to look pitiful in front of him , like a crybaby who could not live without a man who had shattered her heart into pieces. She always wanted to be strong , and she had always acted it, she never had any trouble walking away from anything. . .Anything apart from Conri . She was always so weak when it came to him, it was always difficult for her to shut her mind off of him , maybe because now she had missed his warmth around her, maybe because she wants to feel his touch again , or maybe because deep down she was just too happy to see him again after three long years.
" Because , I didn't see any reason to , it was better that we were not in each other 's lives, " She said what her head wanted her to say.
Conri makes her perfect life imperfect. Just a touch from him could make her whole body come alive and leaving her begging for more. Her wolf was long asleep and she liked it that way. But since he was there now, she is bound to wake up anytime soon. Only just his touch would do crazy things to her mind , and that is only just an understatement. She had become that pathetic and that annoyed her , she was not going to go through it all over again.
She raised her voice a little louder " Why would I look for you ? I didn't think you wanted to be found after what happened. You let them drag me , you let them humiliate me , you let them treat me like a useless animal , you could have shown up to do something but you didn't . Do you know how many times I was hit ? they beat me with a silver stick and I could not even defend myself because I could not shift. They would not let me , not that I think they should have but I have never felt so humiliated all my life. Do you want me to spill out the ugly details? Uh ? Or maybe you already know them , you must have heard. There won't be any information that is not in your capacity to get anymore. You are the Alpha "
He was not sure how that last statement hurt him so much , hearing it from her. He walked up to her and knelt down before her, Surrendering.
She stared down at him , his handsome face , his brilliant face that never betray emotions. She fought every urge in her body to slap him , and let him feel the pain, Let him show her a little bit of the emotions she wants to see. " You betrayed me Conri , you betrayed everything we had together, and damn I hate you for it " She could see his demeanor change at her choice of words but she didn't care.
She could hear one of her sisters coming upstairs towards her room , she must have heard the noise coming from her room or sensed her pain and her fear. " Kyra , are you okay ? Who are you talking to ? " she could hear her say, it was her sister Lola , so she must have sensed her pain. She knows how her sisters care for her.
" Nothing , I am fine . It is only the visiting Alpha "
She replied, looking straight into Conri 's eyes , daring him.
" Do you need me ? " Lola called out
" No honey , I will be fine"
" Okay but don't hesitate to call on me , when you think slightly that you might need me"
" Don't worry , I most definitely will. Go back to bed " She could hear her sister go back down the stairs toward her room. She then pulled her full attention to Conri again.
" The visiting Alpha ? Really? " He asked in disbelief.
" Uh yes , what was I supposed to say ? Were you not visiting? Are you not an Alpha ? "
He was hurt , but he wanted to touch her to clean all her sadness and anger away , he wanted to transfer her pain to himself, even when he knew he might not be able to handle it.
