Chapter 13 - Lialliana von Alexander ( Backstory )

3rd Person Pov:

Former Vice-General of the Knight Order, Lilliana von Alexander. Within the ranks of the Knight Order, the General wields the most power.

There are many captains in the Knight-Order because there are many units. The captain's job is to supervise their respective units, while the Vice-job General's is to supervise the captains. The General is the most skilled member of the Knight Order, followed by the Vice-General, implying that Lilliana von Alexander is one of the most powerful people in the Devontae Kingdom.

She retired after marrying into the Alexander family because she would be unable to fulfil her duties in addition to her duties as the wife of the Marquess of Alexander.

Even though she was living in the mansion and fulfilling her duties, she never stopped training. She always found time to train.

The General of the Knight Order, Hitanlyer von Deguredolf, head of the Deguredolf Family, also came for a sparring session. He won but Lilliana put up a decent fight. He is said to be Origin 10 at the very least, but no one knows for sure, so Lilliana holding out demonstrated that she is still as strong as she was before.

This made Lilliana very happy because she had worked hard since she was a child to achieve her current level of power. But even that happiness only lasted a short time.

She was never happy because her marriage was solely for the benefit of her family. The Marquee appeared to share this sentiment, as they never spent time together. They barely knew each other, and their relationship did not blossom after their engagement; in fact, it deteriorated. He couldn't object to the marriage because he was still 16, so he had to obey his father's orders.

They harboured a minor grudge against each other, even though they shouldn't. They knew it wasn't the other person's fault, but they couldn't accept the fact.

It was especially true for Ron Alexander, who was secretly in love with another woman. Being suddenly engaged to a woman he didn't know was heartbreaking for him. That's why, even after the engagement, he remained cold and distant from her.

He was instead trying to get closer to the other woman, who was also his childhood friend. She was an apprentice under his father, the previous head of the Alexander family, Gordon Alexander.

He fell for her gradually, his love growing each they spent together training. He was planning on confessing to her, and he spent years planning how to confess to her, but in the end, he was engaged to the daughter of the Rosa Family.

The Rosa family is a barony, and the Alexanders and Rosa families have been close for generations, so having their children marry will only strengthen their friendship. Furthermore, their daughter is the Vice-General of the Knight Order, so bringing her into the family would strengthen the family's military strength.

George Alexander desired a strong spear user in the family because Ron lacked spear talent and was better suited as a strategist and businessman. He is well-suited to be the family's leader, but George wasn't satisfied; he wanted at least one talented spear user in the family, which Lilliana provided.

This increased Ron's resentment of Lilliana because he felt worthless for failing to meet his father's expectations of him. Throughout their engagement, their relationship remained icy as Ron openly avoided her.

Lilliana also did not try to improve their relationship because she believed everything would be fine once they married and disliked spending time with Ron. Because she was only 16, she didn't know much about relationships, and dating is uncommon among nobles.

But that was a mistake, as their relationship remained cold even after their marriage. Even though she tried, she couldn't improve their relationship because she lacked relationship knowledge.

Ron spent more time training during the first few years of their marriage because it was the only time he could spend with the woman he loved. These went on for about 4 years, with Ron's relationship with neither of the women improving.

That changed when Ron's father insisted on seeing his grandson. Ron was adamantly opposed, believing it would be betraying his loved one. That changed when he learned of his loved one's marriage. He had a brief fit of rage before deciding to at least uphold his father's words.

Lilliana shared his sentiments and was hesitant to do the deed with him, but she did it anyway. She wasn't happy; instead, she was sad and depressed. Fortunately, she became pregnant and never had to deal with Ron again, though she never showed it on her face.

Even after that, Lilliana's life was no happier; she was always sad and depressed, but she did it many sacrifices for the sake of her unborn child. She changed her diet and stopped doing what made her the happiest, spear training.

Ron, on the other hand, had no regard for either his child or his wife. He developed a workaholic personality and never left his office. He hardly ever saw his wife and only showed up on the day his daughter was born. Even then, he had no smile on his face, only a cold stern expression, completely unconcerned about his daughter and wife.

Unlike Ron, Lilliana and George were overjoyed, even to the point of tears. Lilliana and George were looking forward to this day because they had purchased a lot of baby clothes and toys. George is a wonderful person who allowed Ron to do whatever he wanted when he was younger. Despite his desire for many things from his only son, he did not impose anything on him except the marriage.

He was feeling slightly guilty and, up until that point, he had never complained about Ron's behaviour toward his wife because it was the result of his mistakes.

Even after a year since their daughter was born, Ron had never held her or spent any time with her. Despite Lilliana's efforts to make them bond, he rarely spent time with her.

Lilliana's heart was filled with resentment for her husband, not for how he had treated her, but for his lack of affection for his daughter. Their relationship was almost non-existent, with only a marriage certificate holding them together, causing both of them to suffer.

This was exacerbated when Ron arrived with a concubine who was holding a newborn. Lilliana was enraged because he never spent time with their child but went on to make another woman pregnant without remorse.

Despite her rage, she calmly accepted the concubine. If there was a concubine, she'd never have to spend the night with Ron. Just thinking about it made her sick. But the concubine died before a year had passed. Ron acted calmly during the funeral as if it didn't bother him, which made Lilliana even more disgusted with him.

Lilliana had been preoccupied with her child since her birth; she didn't bother Ron, and Ron didn't bother her or her child. They were like two strangers tied together by a sliver of paper.

Her daughter was named Estonia, it was a name chosen by Lilliana in honour of her ancestor, Estonia Rosa, the founder of the Rosa Family.

The concubine's son was called Flynn Ernest, a name of unknown origin. Apparently, the concubine is from a family called Ernest, but no one is familiar with that family.

The relationship between the two kids was...
