Wu Liang Hui sat quietly wrapped in a warm blanket, sipping his vegetable soup as Old man Li went on and on about his years in the military. Liang Hui was now spending the night at the old man's house. In the morning they were heading out to the nearest town to buy all that Wu Liang Hui, now Chi Bai Cai, would need before he sets off to a sect located on the mainland. According to the old man, Chi Bai Cai was a 20 year old mage that had moved to the small village from the mainland a couple of weeks ago. He had been working as a healing class mage since he unlocked his spirit at the age of 12. His abilities drained his spirit essence and eventually damaged his soul. Wu Liang Hui figured that this is most likely led to his death. Liang Hui thought the young man unfortunate to not have any friends or family that would miss him, only to remember he too had no one. Would someone in his old world even realize that he's gone? He sighed.
In this new world he found himself the perfect prey for the local beastmen. After what just happened it was decided that the small village was no longer safe for him to stay. Old man Li Qingyun explained to him that mages were a rare find outside of the mainland hence the beastmen that attacked his home would return. The village he was currently in was located on one of the six islands off the mainland, called Hummingbird Island. The beastman that attacked him was actually, shark beastman and not reptilian like Wu Liang Hui thought.
Sighing as he was finally dismissed from the lecture on good battle etiquette, he clunked into the guest room. As the village head of a tiny village on an island, Old Li wasn't that well off, but his modest three-bedroom home was kept neat and tidy. It felt nice and warm like the old green knitted blanket Wu Liang Hui was currently wrapped in. It reminded him a lot about his grandparents' home. Like him, his parents were busy researchers and had no time to raise him. So, he was often left alone at home during the week when he had school and, on the weekends, he would visit his grandparents. Liang Hui hugged the blanket closer to himself. A chill passed through his spirit remembering how alone he felt when his grandparents died.
Shaking the thoughts from his head he flopped on the bed. He was even more alone now. This was a strange world with magic and beasts and worst of all no coffee. Wu Liang Hui sighed again, 'Guess it's time to stop beating around the bush and open it again.' Focusing his thoughts, he was delighted to see that the screen had reappeared. It had disappeared after he received his prize earlier.
[Welcome back Chi Bai Cai]||
'Don't you dear!' Wu Liang Hui sprang up. He was now young and full of energy; he could fight a floating screen if he had to. It was bad enough that he had to endure being called Chi Bai Cai by the villagers, he was not about to be called cabbage in his own mind too.
[Welcome back Wu Liang Hui, how may I assist you?]||
'Did I die? How did I get here? What are you? What's going on?'
From what he garnered in the explanation, his soul was brought to this world after his death due to his unjust end. It seems that Wu Liang Hui's soul has been reincarnated multiple times. However, he has yet to live a complete life as his life has been cut short every time. It has resulted in 7 wrongful deaths. Hence the heavens have granted him the opportunity to continue his first life. In Liang Hui's first life he took pills that have perfectly preserved his body. All he needs to do is to find where it is being held and his soul will automatically do the rest. However, the power of his soul should not be more than one level lower than the body or else his soul would be crushed.
This explanation, however, made Wu Lian Hui's head feel like the world was spinning. Reincarnation is one thing, but he must find he first body. How the hell was he supposed to accomplish that? Where does one even start to look? He knew jack shit about this new world. Analyzing his thoughts, the system started to explain the layout of this planet. It projected a holographic display of the planet in front of him.
The planet had two layers, one floating in the air and the other on the ground. The air layer was made up of 8 islands. Seven small floating islands surrounding a larger island. This large island was known as the Capital Island. The group of floating islands were called the Kingdom of the Sky. The ground layer, however, was mostly water. It was an oceanic world with one large continent with islands scattered about the sea.
Collapsing back on the bed due to mental exhaustion Wu Liang Hui decided to take his mind off things. Then he remembered that he still had another one of those Lucky Spins. He asked the system how the Lucky Spin works and was told that the prizes in the Lucky Spin are his belongings from all his lives that have not been claimed by others. A Lucky Spin cost 500 exp, he can gain exp by leveling up his soul power. Telling the system to start the wheel he looked on with anticipation. Maybe he might gain another cool ability. The ten colored wheel appeared again, however this time Liang Hui paid close attention to the different colors and not just the black pointer.
Earlier when Old Li was talking about his time in the military, he talked about the 12 levels of cultivation. Levels 1. grey, 2. yellow and 3. green were the cultivation levels of the common folks. Wu Liang Hui deduced that would mean that if the pointer landed on any of those colors his prize would be nothing much to look at. Blue, purple, orange or red was midtier but still good as those were the level of soldiers and government officials. However, what made his mouth salivate was the prospect of getting a black, gold or white prize. If the blue level prize he got was that mind blowing imagine a white level prize.
Crossing his fingers, he chanted the word white in his mind as the pointer continued to spin. As it slowed down as it passed red on the wheel Wu Liang Hui held his breath. His chant for white restarted with more vigor. It slid passed black onto gold. Just when he thought that it would stop it shifted onto the very edge of the white wedge and stopped. He threw his hands up in victory then refocused on the screen as it read out his prize.

Instantly he is consumed by a bright white light. After the light receded Liang Hui looked around in awe. He was in a beautiful garden with a crystal-clear lake. Lush green grass as far as the eye can see only stopping to make way for the vibrant plants and bushes in the garden. Taking a deep breath, he noted how clean and refreshing the air was. Spreading his arms, he looked up to the blue sky without a cloud in sight and started to twirl. A face splitting smile on his face for the first time since he arrived in this world, he was happy. Honestly, for the first time in years. This was paradise.
Upon opening his eyes, however, he caught sight of a wooden structure behind the overgrown bushes near the lake. Shoving his way passed the overgrown shrubbery he made it to find a wooden cabin. It had an arch shaped front door with an intricately carved frame. Wu Liand Hui could not read what was carved but that didn't matter to him, it was gorgeous. The walls of the cabin were made of interlocked logs.
Pushing open the heavy wooden door he was further delighted to find an apothecary's dream. The inside walls were lined with shelves upon shelves filled with books and jars of all sizes. At the back of the room was a giant black cauldron seated between two long counters that spanned the width of the wall. On it sat different apparatus and instruments. Finally, Wu Liang Hui had a place where he felt at home. His old instincts were kicking in as he started pulling books from the shelves to flip through their pages. Though he still didn't understand language, just the thought of being in a lab again made him feel safe. It wasn't long before he fell asleep surrounded by a pile of books.
In his dream he was a powerful cultivator who ruled a magical kingdom full of beauty, riches and wonder but was betrayed and murdered by his subordinates. Then suddenly he was a blade of grass, peacefully dancing with the gentle breeze only to be burnt during the struggle of war. Next minute he was dancing to a cheering crowd, his-her voluptuous body moving skillfully as the bells attached to her wrists and ankles chimed in tune with a beating drum. As she spread her arms to strike an ending pose, she was stabbed in the chest. Wu Liang Hui tossed and turned as he was forced to relive death after death. His eyes opened after finding himself shot in the chest once again in that damned white hallway. His face was covered in cold sweat as the sun bleared down on him through the open window. He was back in Old Li's house, gone was the wooden cabin by the lake. Was it all a dream?
