The next morning, Issac sat downstairs at the kitchen table eating breakfast. Caleb came into the kitchen, grabbed a plate, and began to scoop eggs and bacon on his plate.
"Good morning," Issac said as he looked Caleb in the eyes.
"Morning." Caleb said groggily." "I feel like shit." He said as he sat down at the table with his food.
"You drank like a fish." Issac reminded him. "But if you eat and hydrate you will feel better."
Caleb began to take a bite of his bacon.
"Did you think about the answer to my question?" Issac asked with a smile.
Caleb frowned not sure what Issac meant.
"What question?"
"The question I asked you last night when I was in your room." Issac clarified.
"Honestly, I don't remember what you asked me...I think I drank too much... can't even remember how I made it back to the house last night. Caleb said baffled. "Like I don't even remember getting to my bed." He said as he looked at Issac.
Issac felt defeated because Caleb couldn't even remember what they did last night. What Issac had done to please him.
"You promised me-" Issac stopped seeing Natalie.
"Promised what?" Natalie asked curiously.
"None of your fucking business." Issac snapped feeling annoyed by her presence. When in reality he was mad at himself and the fact that Caleb couldn't remember their night together.
Caleb's eyes went wide at hearing Issac snap at Natalie.
"Excuse me?" Natalie said offended by this fake ass cop.
She put her plate down. "I don't know who you think you're talking to." She said in an elevated voice.
"I'm talking to you obviously," Issac said. "I'm tired of your entitled bi-"
"Enough," Caleb yelled. "Enough."
He was not going to allow him to treat Natalie like she wasn't welcome.
Caleb wasn't going to allow Max to disrespect his girlfriend. He had no right to behave the way he was behaving. Max was supposed to be a cop. His job was to protect. Right now he was just being an asshole.
"Come with me," he said as he walked out of the kitchen going into his father's office, away from Natalie's ears.
Caleb closed the solid oak office door which had a small window in the door that someone could look into.
"What the fuck?" Caleb asked Max.
"Why are you being an asshole?"
Issac frowned at Caleb's comments crossing his arms over his chest
I feel like," Issac started to say.
"Max," Caleb cut Issac off "You don't get to feel anything," Caleb said. " I don't care about your feelings, Max."
My name is not Max," Issac growled reminding Caleb.
"Oh your legal name might not be Max, Caleb reminded him. "But you will always be Max to me."
You may clean yourself up, and put on fancy clothes but your behavior is that of Max and you can't even see it." Caleb said in an elevated voice as he took a step back from Max. He needed some distance between them.
"You stopped being Issac when you raped me." Caleb's words were like ice water on Max's body.
"Don't say- "Max tried to say as his mouth went dry and a lump was being to form in his throat.
"Max you fucking raped me," Caleb yelled louder. He needed this moment. He needed to confront Max. He needed to tell him his real feeling.
"I" Max whispered unable to gather the words needed to respond.
"You raped me," Caleb yelled as tears flowed down his face. "You raped me." He was finally able to accept what had happened to him.
"You took my virginity," Caleb cried. "I made a promise to Natalie and you took it away." He yelled. "You hurt me, Max." Caleb sniffled. "I tried to tell you to stop. I tried to tell you it hurt but you did not listen to me." Caleb wiped the tears from his face. He had no intention of crying and having a meltdown in front of this man but he couldn't stop it. The emotions. The tears, the hurt, the anger, the pain.
"I was undercover," Max said trying to convince himself. "I had to" Max tried to explain his inexcusable actions. I mean...It was the only way to save you."
Caleb ran his fingers through his curly locks in frustration.
"Max," Caleb said intently. "Let's stop lying to each other."
"I'm not lying to you," Max said.
"Does your boss know what you did?" Caleb asked.
"He knows about the rape," Max said.
"Not what I'm talking about, and you know it," Caleb said annoyed.
"Does your boss know that you kept me for days after you so-called rescued me from the trap house? Caleb asked.
Max's mouth hung open.
Oh, you didn't think I would remember?" Caleb asked. My hospital reports says I arrived Tuesday. It was Saturday when you took me from Marks. Caleb continued to reveal the secret that he was holding in.
"You kept me for two whole days and continued to rape me," he said in anger. "So did you have to do that? He asked as tears fell from his eyes. "You continued to drug me you did things to me," Caleb said as he ran his finger through his hair stressed.
So you are NOT Issac. Issac would have taken me to the authorities, to the hospital as soon as he save me. He wouldn't have continued to hurt me. he wouldn't have used me like a fucking rag.
Max couldn't control his emotions the realization of what he did and how sick he had behaved made him feel ashamed of himself tears fell from his right eye.
"You are Max and I don't want Max."
"I don't like Max. Max only cares about Max." Caleb took a breath as he rambled on pouring out his feelings.
"I mean look at you, Max." The audacity, volunteering to be my security detail knowing the pain you caused me," Caleb said in disbelief. "I'm sorry," Max cried knowing he was wrong and that he had crossed a line. He was probably no longer worthy of wearing his badge. He had turned into someone he didn't know anymore.
"I never wanted to hurt you and I'm trying to make it right." Max stressed. "I'm trying to atone for my sins. That's why I'm here to show you that I'm not that person." Max said remorsefully. "Please," Max said pulling Caleb into a hug and holding him tight.
"Let me prove to you that I am not Max. He begged getting on his knees in front of Caleb.
Let me prove myself. He said. "Those two days I kept you were inexcusable. I mean you are a beautiful man and I wish we would have met under different circumstances. Because if we had I would have asked you out on a date and eventually I'm sure we would have made love. In those two days I was trying to create that..trying to erase the rape...to make you want me... enjoy me. Enjoy the sex. Max said as he cried. "I wanted to keep you," he said honestly. "I still want to keep you and protect you but most importantly erase the pain that I caused.
Caleb couldn't help but cry harder. Those two extra days' in captivity were what confused him the most.
"I am so sorry." Max apologized. "I am so sorry Caleb. Can you Please find it in your heart to forgive me?" Max said. "If not today or tomorrow...someday in the future."
Natalie couldn't hear what was going on but something very intense was happening in that room.
She would find out what was going on between Issac and Caleb.
