Caleb was feeling restless and Issac decided to take him to one of Detroits best pizza spots, Buddy's Pizza.
The place was popular and busy with hungry patrons.
They grabbed a table in the corner of the restaurant. Issac ordered pizza. It didn't take too long for their food to arrive.
"Try some," Issac said extending the slice of pizza toward Caleb's mouth.
" you need to eat you're getting thin." He said.
Caleb looked at the pizza and then at Max. Fine Caleb huffed as he bit into the square pizza slice. It was good.
"Told you so." Issac said with a smirk.
"How long have you been a police officer?" Caleb asked.
Issac sat back in his seat surprised by the question. "Fifteen years." Issac said with a smirk.
"Wow," Caleb said. "Why did you want to be a cop?"
Issac smiled at cable questions looking into his eyes.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Caleb asked.
"You're just taking interest in me. I'm surprised."Issac said honestly.
"Interest?" Caleb said blushing. "I was curious."
"You blushing?" Issac smirked as he touched Caleb's cheek.
"Don't," Caleb said brushing Issac's hand away. He didn't want to be touched.
"Sorry," Issac said seeing how Caleb's mood changed.
"I became police because I wanted to actually do some good in my community. I grew up poor in the ghetto and shit was tough. Life was hard but I knew it could be different. I could make a change....so I because a cop. But I realized normal cops can't get to the real bad guys. They could catch the pawns but not the kings. Then I decided to become a UC. Issac lowered his voice. " It's rewarding when I can take down a big fish."
Caleb nodded. "But it never stops when you get one there's someone ready to replace him.
"True but I have faith," Issac said. " When I lock one bad guy up I know I'm doing God's work." I won't stop. It allows me to save people who would be in harm's way.
"Don't you worry you'll die?" Caleb asked curiously.
"It's the price of doing my job but I'm ok with that. Plus I am pretty good at what I do." He said with a smile as he ate some more pizza. "Also, I don't have any family so nothing to lose."
"Oh," Caleb said concerned. "Your parents?"
"Died when I was in high school... drive-by shooting. Issac said as he put his pizza down. "They weren't the target just the wrong place wrong time.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Caleb said hearing Issac's story about his parents.
"I'm no longer hungry...ready to go?" Issac asked Caleb.
"Yeah, sure," Caleb said getting up and following Issac out.
He and Caleb finished eating and drove home in mostly silence.
So I know you're an aerospace engineer but do you fly or just build planes? Issac asked curiously.
"I'm going to build plans but I do fly," Caleb said as he looked out the window. I have my PPL.
"What's That?
Private Pilots License. Calebs explained I can fly small planes.
"That's cool Issac said. "You're really interesting," Issac said as a compliment.
Caleb chuckled. "Ok."
