Few minutes earlier....
Ridwan was focused on paying attention to a presentation regarding a new project that his company would be working on. His eyes stared at the large monitor screen in front of him. While his ears, listening to the explanation that is being conveyed by his employees.
Suddenly, Gio's vibrating sound broke his concentration. Ridwan gave Gio a sharp look, then moved his head as if asking Gio to go and answer his phone.
Gio smiled, showing a row of neat teeth. Moving his lips in apology, he got up and walked away towards the door. Ridwan also refocused himself, paying attention to the monitor screen.
Done taking the phone. Gio approached Ridwan. he whispered. "Grandma is in the office."
Hearing the news, Ridwan immediately got up from his seat. By reflex, all the gazes of all members of the meeting, were fixed on him. In fact, the employee who was presenting stopped talking and looked at him questioningly.
"In the future, Mr. Gio will chair the meeting," Ridwan said, sweeping his eyes, tracing the curious faces of all his subordinates. I want all new project designs to be completed as soon as possible. And regarding the application for funds, please submit it to me tomorrow morning at the latest," he continued.
Ridwan turned around, then stepped out of the meeting room. Even though his departure left many questions, Ridwan didn't care. He just wanted to make sure his wife was okay. As soon as he arrived at the elevator, Ridwan immediately scanned his fingerprints. After the elevator doors opened, he entered and pressed the top button, where his room was. Impatiently, Ridwan kept pressing the up arrow button, as if that would make him arrive quickly.
Ting!
when the elevator door opened, Ridwan immediately left and stepped into his room. from afar, Ridwan directed his gaze, staring at his secretary's desk. He ran, when he did not see Joya's whereabouts.
BRAK!
With one push, Ridwan pushed open his office door. Joya was seen sitting opposite her grandmother. When he saw his grandmother's sly smile, Ridwan immediately walked over to her.
"What is Grandma doing here?" Ridwan looked at his grandmother furiously.
Seeing Erlina's happy eyes, Ridwan was sure that his grandmother had done something for his wife.
Erlina smiled faintly, "I just want to make an offer to him," Erlina replied, pointing at Joya with her chin.
Ridwan looked closely at his wife's face. paying attention to every inch of her face. Irwan is worried that his grandmother will hurt him again. He was relieved when he saw Joya's face fine.
"What offer do you mean?" asked Ridwan in a softer tone of voice.
Erlina glared at her granddaughter. A scornful smile emerged from his lips. "Just ask him."
Ridwan raised his eyebrows. Then looked at Joy. "What did Grandma offer you?"
Joya pressed her lips together, shaking her head. Seeing his wife's reaction, Ridwan was sure that the two women were agreeing on something.
" Tch! you cunning woman!" Erlina sighed.
Hearing his grandmother's words, Ridwan was furious. There must be something that Joya did, to make Erlina call it that. "Joya, answer my question. What did Grandma offer you?"
Because his wife is still silent, Ridwan is increasingly annoyed. " Say!" saw Joya jump. Feeling guilty for yelling at Joya like that. But, Joya finally showed him a piece of paper.
Ridwan took the paper that Joya gave him. His eyes narrowed, seeing the number written on the check. Ridwan's heart was hot, to the point where his grandmother gave a small amount of money to his wife.
"What does all this mean, Grandma?"
Ridwan glared at his grandmother while tightly gripping the check paper that was in his hand.
"Grandma only offers money. But you see for yourself, how cheap this woman is. With only such a small amount of money, she has agreed to leave you!"
"Mom, that's enough!" Ridwan snapped.
Of course Joya will be happy to leave him, because Joya doesn't know if he is Irwan. Usually his grandmother took advantage of this to make Joya leave. Ridwan exhaled slowly. Trying to calm down from his emotions.
"Ridwan doesn't want to make a fuss with Grandma. It's best for Grandma to leave here!" asked Ridwan in a soft voice.
"All right! Grandma's gone," Erlina got up from her seat. then looked at Joya with a mocking smile. "A cheap woman like you doesn't deserve to be in my granddaughter's life." Erlina walked away, out of her granddaughter's study.
Ridwan clenched his fists tightly. Even though his grandmother said that Joya was tempted by money, Ridwan didn't take it for granted. He knows very well the cunning and devious nature of his grandmother, who is capable of anything to achieve her goals.
Hearing the sound of sobbing, Ridwan's gaze turned to Joya. Seeing the clear liquid running down his wife's face, Ridwan's heart ached. He was uncomfortable every time he saw his wife cry.
"What's wrong with me? Why did your grandmother insult me? In fact, earlier she herself offered me the severance pay. But why did I get insulted instead?" sobbed Joya.
As Ridwan had guessed, Joya definitely didn't really understand the purpose of her grandmother giving money. In his worries, Ridwan cursed the contents of his wife's head which always strayed.
"Joya, I'm sorry Grandma. She-,"
"Sir! I do like money, but I'm not a slut."
Seeing his wife leave, Ridwan immediately followed her. He growled when he saw Joya get under the table. Ridwan was both amused and annoyed. How could Joya get into such a narrow place? Ridwan has trouble reaching his wife.
When he was about to lift the table that was blocking Joya. Ridwan's cellphone vibrates. He also grabbed his cell phone. Apparently, it was his wife who was crying under the table who called him.
Ridwan picked up his wife's call. "Irwan... I want to go home. Please pick me up now."
Joya's voice, which could be heard from two directions, made Ridwan confused. What should he do? comforting Joya who was crying under the table? or fulfill Joya's call who wants to be picked up home. Ridwan's situation is completely confusing.
Ridwan took the paper and pen that were on Joya's desk. Then write something down. ' Sorry! made you cry'. Then, he kept the paper near the laptop which was still on.
With hasty steps, Ridwan immediately left Joya. He made sure to keep his identity hidden. Even though Ridwan feels guilty towards Joya, disclosing his identity now is not a wise choice.
If Joya knows Irwan's true identity. Ridwan is sure that his grandmother will not remain silent. Erlina will increasingly annoy Joya. Not only Joya, but also her family.
Just like what his grandmother used to do to his mother's family. Erlina bankrupted the Brimantara family's business and left them in a lot of debt.
Ridwan does not want all the bad events that happened to his mother's family to repeat. Gradually, Ridwan believes, he will be able to melt his grandmother's heart to accept Joya's presence.
Even though you have to keep lying to Joya, it's the best choice than dragging Joya into big trouble.
Ting!
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Ridwan immediately got out and ran towards the car. After changing his appearance, Irwan rushed to meet his wife. Irwan saw Joya who was standing on the side of the road while looking down.
"Joya," he called.
Joya looked up at her husband. "Irwan," he called hoarsely. As if asking for protection, Joya ran into her husband's arms.
