Chapter 5 - The Waiting Game

Barry and Alan had just finished with their training and had headed out for the bathrooms to shower before the mission.

The bathrooms were built quite professionally and triggered a theme of luxury. Alan and Barry departed their ways and went to their cubicle.

Alan opened the lever for the shower to spray down water on him while standing below the shower faucet and letting his intrusive thoughts kick in.

"How am I supposed to master the wind, I haven't had any real ability before," thought alan.

A Voice instantly entered his thoughts and started to guide Alan.

[Does the user want to see a tutorial on how to use the wind ability]

Without even wasting a second he immediately thought yes and a video started playing in his head.

a figure dressed in flowing white robes of clothing, with a calm and serene demeanor could be seen in a gentle forest with a light breeze, His hair was long and flowing, and his eyes were piercing and bright, reflecting the strength of his inner spirit.

He was the Master of the wind who had founded the ability and had displayed a tutorial on how to gain control over this element.

As he moved, he seemed to glide effortlessly across the ground, and his movements were accompanied by the sound of a gentle breeze. He was able to summon gusts of wind at will, bending trees and rustling leaves with the flick of a wrist.

His main goal in that video was to explain that the wind is you just you and if you can control your emotions and yourself, your body will become the path to where the wind will blow.

Alan was deeply motivated by this video and by that man and was also shocked at how the system just read his mind.

(knock, knock)

"You done? we got a mission, remember." commented barry while banging on the door.

"Almost done", responded Alan.

Alan quickly jumped out of the shower and after getting dried up, put on a fresh pair of his uniform that was stored in the closet for all sizes and came out.

"Alright let's report to the office", added barry.

They both walked together as they exited the training grounds to reach the mission's office, where people would be assigned the mission with the report.

They entered the office which was quite heavily detailed on the inside with an addition of a mist of fragrance in the air which made the vibe of the room quite pleasant.

Many people were situated behind desks in a linear pattern with huge monitors blocking their faces. each of that people had a separate aisle where people can talk to them and negotiate some terms. Seeing an open slot, the duo went in to talk to the man sitting up front.

"Excuse, me we were informed that team 8 was assigned a mission", stated barry.

"Yes, of course. Your team has been chosen for the far East district mission due to the missing of some local merchants and foreign traders. We had already sent some reinforcements but we haven't heard from them for a while. Here is the report and good luck!" narrated the man.

"We won't be needing that", whispered Barry to Alan as they had already got to know everything from that worker.

They exited the facility and stood outside the huge gates through which Alan first came through.

"Here ya go", Barry tossed a watch and an earpiece towards Alan which he caught with ease.

"What's this for?", Alan questioned.

The watch is to help you navigate to the location and also it has a GPS tracker so that you don't get lost and stay in touch, and the earpieces are to be used if we get separated. Before they were about to leave, team 7 also met them at the gate, leaving for a mission.

"Good luck Barry, hope you don't go missing"taunted hazel.

"We'll see about that, let's go alan", replied barry.

All of them positioned themselves in a line to leave for the mission.

Barry, Hazel, and her student dashed off into the woods to reach their destination while Alan was left behind.

"Take a deep breath, remember the video, become one with the wind", said Alan to himself. He stood still for a while clearing his mind and then gently started releasing his aura.

[Wind type:Travel]

Along with the others, he also dashed into the woods soon catching up to barry to move alongside him. They moved swiftly through the woods slowly reaching their destination.

"What's the plan, Teach?" asked Alan.

"The plan is simple, we arrive at the location and do a quick tour of the area to record every possible way the enemy could escape or even their whereabouts, And then after we have some decent info, You will disguise yourself as a merchant and accidentally stumble upon the enemies way, so that you get captured and then we ambush them."

"Why me?" responded Alan in a disgusted way as he was given such a humiliating role.

"Because your teacher said so", stated barry which triggered Alan, and he gave up arguing further.

As they were almost about to reach their set destination, the sun started to set creating a descending glow on the land, while its shine faded as well.

"Ah, shit the sun's down," Remarked Barry.

"Isn't that a good thing so that we are more stealthy?" added Alan.

"No, my power is linked with light and at night my stats drop dramatically and I'm not able to perform quite well," responded Barry.

After a few more traveling they had reached the East district of the light residence. As darkness fell, the small town glowed with a warm radiance. Street lamps casted a golden glow onto the populated streets, shop windows twinkled with colorful lights, and the distant hum of a few cars passing by added a gentle rhythm to the lively scene.

They both didn't waste a single minute and quickly hid themselves in the shadows to not be recognized by even normal civilians. They jumped on the rooftops of small homes and inspected the land from within. They spent some time hopping from one building to another only to analyze the situation better.

"Now what?" questioned Alan.

"Now we just wait and see" replied Barry.
