(3rd pov)
The group of students went about the rest of the month without much difficulty. Among them there was a certain busy bee that kept expanding his understandings.
He planned to explore the grounds for the first month, but was then handed a literal map of the entire grounds the next day in class. He assumed somethings were left out, but he didn't care. He then went and read, he read mostly books about wands and runic magic.
He disliked reading but deep down understood that this is what he needed to do.
The other students diligently read the assigned text books that they were given for their pre one month learning. Although Connor read those he finished them while he stood watch. He casually read them while waiting for the hunter to reappear.
At the end of the month and no reappearance of the hunter the group of kids naturally forgot about him- except for a certain man- and went down into the great hall for their official first day with other wizard kids.

(Connor pov)
I got ready to go downstairs, throwing on my camo pants and jacket with a black t-shirt beneath. I slipped my hat on and walked with the others down the stairs.
I walked behind them all trying to remove myself from their conversation, but they kept pulling me back in. I walked in silence next to them in defeat finally giving up and just watched as we entered the large wooden double doors.
We were greeted by an elderly man adorned in gray robes and gray hat. Though my hat is a baseball cap his is just a cylinder with a hole as the bottom face. Almost like an enlarged fez.
As he spoke and I half listened I realized that this I should probably listen cause it's a magic old dude. Those are always the most powerful, McGonagall is powerful or atleast tried to appear that way to outsiders.
I tuned in a little to late as he says, "…and that's the plan for you guys, I hope you got all that because I'm not going to repeat all of that," he let out a small chuckle, "Anyways, you all will be discriminated against because you're a muggle or you'll be met with extreme curiosity. No in between, most people in this school have only known of the magic world so you're a new experience for them."
He slowly walked away as I turned to Derrick, "Hey Derrick," before I could I finish Derrick goes, "I'll tell you when we sit down, but come on man. I know you can't stand old people, for reasons you won't specify, but listen to the god damn principal of the school."
Shit. That was the principal, fuck. I internally chastised myself for not listening. But I despise old people, there was a large population of old people in a town my group was in and we could get zero fucking answers from them. ~hello ma'am have you seen a bald man with a large scar on his eye pass bye ~ oh your so handsome marry my granddaughter she needs a good man. I don't care lady where is our target.
I quietly sat chastising old people in my mind as Derrick told me what Dumbledore said.
Soon the large doors opened with a swarm of kids bursting in going to the table we sat at. Everyone seemed to split up into their designated tables signified by the banner flying above them.
Everyone had eyes on us, and they were looking at some other kid who had weird lightning bolt scar. They stared at us but I didn't care about that, why the hell are we surrounded by 11 year olds. I looked to the others and they were also surprised, I looked and the oldest kids were around our age but still younger. It seemed that this was high school aged kids while the others were all applying to colleges.
I was completely fucked, I barely knew basic American knowledge like colleges or football, and know I'm in a wizard school. Fuck me.
