Chapter 41 - 41. Things to settle

JESSICA'S POV

2 months later

Today would be an interesting day. During these last few months, I hired a private investigator to find out what the hell Lucas wants, but I ended up getting a surprise I wasn't expecting at all, but it all ended up making sense in the end.

It turns out the child Alison is expecting, because yes, she's expecting one, wasn't Santi's as I already knew, but Lucas's. Apparently, they had joined forces to achieve their objective, which is to separate me and Santi.

These last couple of months had been pretty quiet, especially considering no one knows what I'm up to, taking away Jackson and Monica, and it's not because I don't trust Santi or Carla, I just want to take that people down, who ordered my fiancé, soon to be my husband, to be beaten, because yes, we were going to get married in two weeks and I couldn't be happier about that.

On the other hand, the pregnancy is going great, and everyone is happy about it, but especially Santi. Since my belly began to show, I can see in his eyes how happy he is and he always tried to make me as comfortable and as good as possible, which made me the happiest girl in the world.

At this moment I should be getting up to get ready for the meeting with the PI and get the kids up to go to class, but I'm so comfortable in Santi's arms that honestly, it took away my desire to get up.

"Good morning love." As soon as I heard Santi's voice and his arms brought me closer to him, I raised my head and left it on his chest so I could see him. That smile I liked to see on his face is present, and I thank whatever it is that he let me see it, because why lie to us, I'm lucky to have this man in my life, and I don't plan to lose him, that's more than clear to me.

"Good morning." I said with a big smile on my face "How did you sleep today?" he asked, returning my smile. "I couldn't have slept better." I answered honestly, "You look too comfortable there." He watched and I nodded, "Because I am" I replied, "I'm glad to know you're comfortable, but we have to get up if we want the kids to get to class on time."

"I know." I said, "You can stay a couple more minutes if you want." My fiancé assured me, "I better get up because I have more things to do." I said releasing a sigh "What?" He asked, frowning. "Things I'll tell you another time." I responded, "You're not going to get into any trouble, are you?"

"No, but why do you ask?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I don't exactly think you're up to something…" he began. "Carla?" I asked, imagining she imagined that. "She thinks it's weird you left things after what they did to me." He answered, nodding, "Because I promised you."

"And that's what I told her, but she doesn't quite believe it." He admitted "And you? I want you to be honest." I asked, "A part of me thinks like her" he admitted, "But there's a part of you that doesn't." I noted "Exactly, but not because I don't trust you, because I do more than anyone else." He quickly assured, "I know, you don't have to tell me. But I can't deny you anything because I would be lying to you and I don't like lying to you."

"So, you didn't leave things alone?" He asked, raising his eyebrow. "You know I wasn't going to let what they did to you just like that, and the police didn't find anything that would at least help us catch those stupid people." I reported "Did you find anything?" He asked, "Let's say I found a lot of things but at this moment I still have a couple of things left to discover."

"Did you discover that much?" He questioned, surprised. "You would be surprised by what I discovered, but first, I would like to ask you something." I said, sitting up a little in bed. "What?" He asked, taking my same position. "Alison still saying you're the father of her child?" I asked, "The last time Carla said something like that was a couple of weeks ago, so I guess she's still saying it. And from what they told me the other day, she showed up at the building asking for me."

"They let her pass?" I questioned "No, they know I don't like to see her, so they didn't let her pass." He responded "Then I would like to ask you a favour. I want you to know you can refuse to do it if you want, I'm not going to force you to do anything you don't want to do." I assured "I know you wouldn't, but what is it about?" He asked, "I want you to do the paternity test on her child."

I could see his face change from one of surprise to one of concern as the seconds passed, and I'm completely sure he's thinking something it wasn't. "It's not what you're thinking. I trust you and I always knew that child isn't yours." I insisted, "Then why do you want me to do it?" He asked. "To sum things up, let's say I plan to go talk nicely to Alison and that degenerate Lucas, so they'll leave us alone."

"You want to do what?" Santi questioned, sitting on the bed. "What you heard, but don't worry, I'm not going alone." I assured him before he created stories in his mind "Why do you want to talk to them?" He asked, "Because I need them to get out of our lives once and for all."

"Why do you need the test for?" my fiancé asked, "Because I'm pretty sure they're not going to accept anything I tell them, so they'll probably end up going on TV to tell any lies and I'm sure your supposed child with Alison will come out again." I pointed out, "So the test is to prove that child isn't mine?" he asked "We could put it like this. It's to show the world with it in front of her that she's a liar."

"I don't know if I should be worried about what that crazy little head of yours is up to or be glad, you're back to being the Jessica you were years ago." Santi said with a smile on his face, "It may be I look more like Jessica from years ago and I remember things that until recently I had no idea, but I can assure you that you don't have to worry about anything. Jackson always accompanies me everywhere to prevent something from happening to me, and in case I don't feel safe, I'll call you and you won't take long for you to appear next to me."

"There is not even the slightest doubt about that." He assured, "I know, but now let's get up, because if we're still here, the kids are going to be late for class, and I don't have in mind going to talk to any teacher." Santi laughed and we got up to start the morning. While we showered and dressed, it was all laughter. When we walked out the door of our bedroom, I gave him a kiss and headed to the kids' room to wake them up. Luckily for everyone, it wasn't difficult for them to get up too much.

Once they got up, I headed downstairs to take Wisky out for a while. The walk was calm and when I got home, I could see the door open, which meant only one thing, that Carla was home.

When I entered the house, the first thing I heard is laughter, which made me happy and made me realize that being in Los Angeles and not remembering anything, I missed this, the feeling of being at home. That doesn't mean that I miss certain aspects of my life at that time either, because things were calmer and let's say I was a normal girl who made an effort to raise her little brother like many other families around the world.

During breakfast everything was laughter and when it would be practically impossible for the kids to get to class on time, everyone left and I stayed at home since Carla offered to take them, which at this moment I was grateful for. "You look tired." Jackson noted, "I'm not really tired, now if I could be sleeping, believe me, I would."

"That must be because you really are." My bodyguard insisted, "No, I'm not. All I do is sleep." I informed "But that's normal, you're pregnant. You are two people in one body." He said and I nodded, "Well, these people want to sleep, so let's go finish what we have to do and then we can go to sleep for a while."

"As ordered boss." With that, we started walking and headed to the address where we had agreed to meet Monica and the private investigator.

SANTI'S POV

After talking to Jessica this morning, I'm not calm. I know Jessica won't do anything crazy, at least one that would put her life and that of our child at risk, but what I don't trust so much is what those two can do.

I'm so immersed in my world that I didn't even realize when Carla came in and sat next to me watching who a while ago, was recording. I don't know if it's lucky we're on the same record label or not, but I really appreciate it.

"What is it that has you so thoughtful, Santi?" my best friend asked. "Remember when you told me Jessica wasn't going to leave things the way they were?" I asked even though I knew she remembered the question "About the beating?" Our best friend questioned, and I nodded.

"I remember, what I don't understand is why you bring it out at this moment." She said, crossing her arms, "This morning she told me she had been investigating all this time who had beaten me and asked me to take a paternity test with Alison's child."

"Why?" Carla asked, frowning. "Because according to her, she's going to need it when she goes to talk to those two degenerates." I get up from the chair and her eyes increased to their normal size. "She's going to do what?" Carla asked, straightening up in her chair. "What you heard, and I'm not convinced by that option at all."

"I understand, but we're not going to let her go alone, she can forget about that." She said upset and I nodded, because that's more than clear to me. "According to her, she's no going to go alone." I responded, "Correction, we're not going to let her go if it's not with one of us. We both know whoever she takes is going to let her do what she wants."

"She won't get into trouble now; I can assure you." I assured. I'm more than clear I would do whatever is necessary to keep our child safe, and that meant staying out of trouble. "I know, but I don't trust those two, and I'm not going to take the risk, because of tow degenerate people, lose your child and my nephew or niece."

"I know, but I don't have the slightest idea what she's going to do, Jess just told me she's going to talk to them." I confessed, running my hand over the back of my neck. "Well, we have to find out what your dear fiancée is up to, because I'm more than clear that if she's going to talk to them, I'm going with her."

"Do you want to join her to take down those two as she would like or to stop her?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and knowing my best friend is the same as my fiancée in that sense. "I would lean more towards the second option, but I'm completely sure that whatever Jessica plans to do is going to be much better."

"I don't doubt it, I just want them to leave her alone for once." I said, leaning back in the chair and running my fingers through my hair. "And we both know that's not going to happen until this is resolved." Carla pointed out, "I know." I admitted, "Don't worry about Jessica so much. She's strong and no one will be able to touch a single hair on her, I can assure you that. No one would let that happen, much less herself."

"I know." I repeated, "Well, change that face and let's start where we left off so we can go home and have her tell us what she has planned." At that moment the notification tone on my phone rings, more specifically the one I have for Jackson, which makes me quickly take out my phone to make sure nothing has happened to Jessica, but when I see a photo of her sleeping in the passenger seat with one of my sweatshirts on, I can't stop the smile that appears on my face and the tranquillity that invades me at this moment.

"You see? She's fine. Jackson is taking care of her like she's his sister." Carla said, giving my arm a squeeze. "I know, but I can't help but worry." I responded, "Well, you have to understand Jessica, the same thing happens to her, which is why she didn't let what they did to you go." My best friend pointed out, "I know, but I didn't need to do it, at the end of the day, I'm fine."

"But that's not enough for either of us and you know it." He responded, "That's why I love you." I said with a smile on my face "I hope you don't love me the same way Jessica does, because then I'm a dead girl." Carla replied laughing "Why would you be a dead girl?" I asked confused "Because Jessica would kill me." My best friend said, laughing again, "Jessica wouldn't do that, and you know it, and two, I don't love you the same way I love Jess, that's obvious. I love you like my sister, and that's as far as it goes."

"I know, it was just to mess with you and make you not worry so much about her." She responded, "Thank you, I really appreciate it." I thanked "I know, now can we keep recording?" She asked and I nodded. "Of course, move your butt in there." Carla laughed and we went back to work. If Carla is right about something, it's that Jessica isn't going to let things remain as they were and no one could do anything to her, because she had her family and Jackson, which left me more than calm.
