The inside was filled with dozens of sharpened reinforcing steel bars sticking upwards. Falling into that would mean sure death or severe injury.
After marking this trap, several people continued forward.
They had basically approached the range of the Surrounding Wall when Sean Knight and his team stopped.
Noises could still be heard from the Living Area, but they had subsided significantly. Now, only a handful of lamps remained lit.
Checking the time, Elijah Hastings exclaimed:
"These guys have some real stamina. They mined all day, and they're still up causing a racket at this hour."
"Anyone still up and making noise at this time probably isn't a miner," Sean guessed. "How could real miners have such energy?"
The two of them chatted like this, and the other two team members didn't interrupt, just listening and observing their surroundings.
