I sat at the park by myself, I started talking to my mom. I sat there for hours, I turned to the sound of someone's voice. Casey sat beside me "Knew I'd find you here." I looked at her "How?" She grabbed my hand "This was my go to place." I looked at her "My dad?" She nodded "Your school called him and I kind of figured where else would you be." I looked at her "Does it ever get easier?" She shook her head "I wish I could say yes." I leaned on her shoulder "Do you think things would be different?" She sighed "I wouldn't know but I do know your dad does try to do what's best?" I chuckled and sat back up "Yeah. I guess." She looked at me "Something else bothering you?"
I looked down at the grass "We got into a fight. Kinda." She looked up "Your dad wont hold that..." I cut her off "Not him. My.. well his name is Nick. I feel like I don't belong in his world. But I can't stay away from him." She laughed "I've been there." I looked at her "I just feel a deep connection to him and I just get dragged in but he is dangerous and doesn't have a good reputation at school. But when he's around me, he's a completely different person."
She looked down "From my experience I learned that's the person who will be there till the end. Together or not they have your back and will hold you up." I looked at her "So you're saying just go for it?" She smiled "I'm saying keep him, don't lose him. Build that friendship up then go for a relationship and if it doesn't work for you guys keep him closely as a friend. It's a difficult thing to overcome loving someone in that special way but it's possible."
I looked down "You're talking about you and Tomas." She nodded "I miss him everyday." I frowned "I'm sorry." She hugged me "We will make it." I hugged her back "I love you." She kissed my head "I love you too." She jumped up "Let's get some lunch." I follow her to the car, we went to the local diner and sat down.
As we walked out of the diner, I bumped into Nick; he was with a girl so I walked past turning my head in his direction. He glanced back but kept walking; I got into the car and tried not to cry, Casey got into the driver side "What's going on?" I looked up "He was with another girl." She grabbed my hand "Honey." I wiped my eyes "Can we go back to your house please?" She drove off, I kept quiet.
I pulled my phone out and had a text from him "I see you're hanging out with the cop alot. Suspicious." I ignored the message; we went back to her house and hung out for a bit. My dad stopped by to check up on me; we sat down at the kitchen table. He started "I need to know what happened with Nick." I shrugged "Nothing. We just stopped talking." He rubbed his forehead "No I mean WHAT HAPPENED." I frowned "He text me. He thinks I'm telling Casey things." He put his hand out "Let me see the phone."
He opened the texts and read them; he exhaled "Send those to me as soon as possible." He got up and I followed "Dad?" He stopped "You need to come home. I don't want Casey or her family involved in any of this." I frowned "Okay." I grabbed my things from upstairs, said my goodbyes and left with him.
As we drove, I asked "What's going on?" He exhaled "I heard some things today." I looked out the window "He won't hurt us... Will he?" He sighed "I have no idea." I grabbed my phone from the cup holder "I'll make this stop." He grabbed it "Lily! It is beyond Nick!" Tears came to my eyes "Why are you yelling at me?" He looked at me with a frown "I'm sorry honey." We pulled up to the house, they were loading up the SUV. I looked around "Where are we going?"
I stopped in my tracks when I noticed that was Nick was standing there. I looked at my dad "Dad." My dad went inside, Nick came up "It's okay." I backed away "What did you do?" He frowned "Someone saw us and told my family about it. You aren't safe here anymore. I came to warn your dad." I gulped "Thanks." I went inside, he followed. He went upstairs to help the others, my dad looked at me "You need to get over what ever you have against him."
I crossed my arms "Weren't you telling me to stay away from him?" He smirked "The fact he showed up here and warned us gave him a lot of respect in my book." I rolled my eyes "And how do we know this isn't a setup." He looked at me "Because I saw how he talked about you. I was that boy once." I scoffed "You're easily manipulated." He smirked "Well guess what he isn't going and doesn't know where we are going."
I put my hands on my hips "You can stop." He laughed "I've done this for years I'm sure I can trust myself to make the right calls." I smirked "We'll see." He smiled "You act like your mother you know." I gave him a dirty look "It's common sense." Oliver came up to us "Ready to go?" I looked at him "Uh no. I'm not going anywhere with you." I looked back at my dad "Dad!" He looked up from his phone "Don't start Lily."
I looked up the stairs and saw Nick coming down with Hunter. I pushed my hair back "Yeah Oliver, I'm ready to go." Hunter came up "We're all going with him Lily not just you." Nick looked at Oliver then at me "Have a safe flight, Lily can I talk to you for a second." I followed him to the living room, he frowned "I'm sorry how I acted toward you and put you in that situation where your safety was at risk. Good luck."
He gave me a hug and walked away; I stood there for a few minutes trying to gather that I may never see him again. My dad yelled for me "Lily let's go!" I went outside and got into the SUV. Hunter turned around in the front seat and said sarcastically "Are you going to be okay?" I rolled my eyes and looked out the window, I stared at the clouds as we drove to the airport. Oliver drove us, Arabella and Ana were next to me but felt like it was just me in that car.
Ana nudged me as we pulled up to the car port; Oliver got out and grabbed a cart for the bags. We checked in while he parked the car and went to baggage claim and eventually boarded the plane. I sat next to the window and stared out at the mountains, I turned to Oliver sitting next to me; Hunter and my sister's were behind us. He smiled "Are you okay there? We can switch if your not comfortable with the window." I frowned "It's okay." I leaned against the window and continued to stare out of it until we took off.
I turned to Oliver "I'm sorry." He looked up at me "For what?" I looked away "Being a bitch." He smiled "Don't even worry about it." I looked back out the window and looked at the clouds as we flew through them. Eventually we landed again and got off. We grabbed the bags and drove a few hours; we arrived at my Uncle Tyler's house eventually. We unloaded our bags, and got settled in.
I went to Oliver's room "Hey." He looked up "What's up?" I leaned against the door frame "Um.. want to do something? I'm not really in the mood to be here." He threw his bag on the floor "Sure, what did you have in mind?" I smiled "The mall." He smirked "Why not?" We went downstairs to the car; we arrived to the mall. We walked around and went into different stores; we sat and shared a pizza. I looked up at him "Have you been to California?" He shook his head no "Not this part." I smiled "Well I'm going to show you the city and a few fun spots." He smiled "Okay."
I dipped my finger in the pizza sauce and wiped it on his nose, he laughed and did it to me. I stuck my tongue out at him and laughed, we finished eating and walked around some more. We came up to my favorite bakery; I grabbed his hand and dragged him in. We got some chocolate and other candy; we hung out there for a little bit longer. Oliver helped me forget having to leave Nick but at the same time I was still mad at Nick.
