Chapter 19 - The Hunted

The sun shone down resplendently at the deserted street, drying up the foul stinking blood that splattered over the tar road.

The smell of corpses was both disgusting and revolting. Pieces of rotten corpse and bodily fluids perforated the entire street with their sickening odur.

Blackened cars lined up again each other like tetris block game on the road, blocking most of the street, with zombies roaming aimlessly about the street.

Though some of the houses in that particular area all had been blown to pieces, some were still intact as they had been untouched by the explosion while some had only been grazed slightly. There were houses with closed windows, it was highly likely there are survivors within the houses.

BREE!!! BREE!!! BREE!!!

RATATATATATATAT!!!

The silence was soon interrupted when sounds of heavy assault rifle and submachine guns rang out in the street as a squad of over ten armed men and women began slaughtering the massive hoard of zombies in a very smart and efficient manner.

Not a single bullet was wasted and every shot of theirs were completely head shots or enough to incapacitate the zombies, killing them off clean and fast.

The over ten armed men and women were heavily equipped with tactical gas masks, weapons and ammunition, they were equipped to the brim. Their heavy backpack seem not to have any effect on their agility as they continued to open fire on the hordes of zombies.

From their technique and their well coordinated movements, one would be able to tell that they were not really from the army as they were even more coordinated and efficient than those Ace squad from the armies.

Those who have hidden in their homes quickly peeped through the windows and rejoiced that they were now safe but remained indoor in fear, waiting to let the armed men finish off all of the zombies within the area.

Suddenly, one zombie managed to get close to one of the soldiers and clawed at his chest. The man didn't panic. The man brought out a combat knife, one that looked very much identical to Ryvers' and his motion blurred.

In a flash, he had cut off the head of the zombie. Surprising his agility had reached four to five points.

If a random member of their squad had four points in agility, at what level would their captain be?

"Captain, the zombies in this area are almost wiped out. Should we set up camp at the store over there?" One of the men turned to ask the captain their next move.

The man stood at a height of 1.90 meters, his hair pure black but his eyes were green, like a snakes'. He had a large cigarette in his mouth that was half exhausted. He wasn't warring a tactical mask either, not bothering about the toxic radiation entering into his nose in the least. His face was solemn and he appeared to be in his mid fourties.

"Form a team of five and make sure to clear out the store, finish doing that before we wipe out the rest of these abominations then we can rest till the sun calms and continue continue our mission." The captain ordered, radiating domineering waves of authority.

"If it weren't for the mission to go retrieve the minister's son, and the information he gave us as a reward that MEGA-TECH was secretly building Nanocells, I wouldnl still be at Base RT-21 and not here in this god forsaken place. Puu!" The captain spat to the ground angrily, his voice dark and hoarse.

"Captain, there might be a chance the information is false." A female squad member said while reloading her M4-A1 assault rifle amidst the gun fire.

The captain puffed out loud columns of smoke from his mouth and a sinister expression appeared on his face. "For the sake of the minister and his son, I hope not."

"Secure the store before these abominations are cleansed." The captain ordered.

"I hear you, captain!" The hurriedly answered.

"Sting, Aquarius, Pinoly, McDeath and Hydra, let's head out to clear that store, cap'n's orders." The man commanded.

Five people simultaneously retreated from the formation in a well coordinated manner, forming their own team as they went ahead to the store.

Roughly twenty minutes later, inside the small store.

The twenty trained men and women stood in a circular formation around a huge round table. And in the table was a huge map of the region.

"To get to Grand Metro City, this bridge is the shortest route that leads into the city. But its going to be more troublesome since lots of people take that route everyday which means there will be lots of zombies, it would likely be dangerous, taking most of our time to clear them up, but it's shorter than passing the next option. " a young man who was more familiar with the area said as he pointed at a short bridge on the map, leading to a dark green spot on the map marked Grand Metro City.

The captain frowned and said "What's troublesome in taking down a couple hundreds of zombies along the way? We might as well evolve during this mission. Without killing hundreds of zombies, and gathering materials, it's very difficult to evolve.

Leveling up will increase your strengths and our overall man power. Anyways, It's decided, we will go for the shortest route." The captain's gruff voice concluded.

"Alright, you guys go do your thing. With my ability, I spotted quite a few beautiful ladies hiding in their homes. Let's go comfort them buddies." The rest of the 9 members roared loudly in laughter at the captain's words

" Haha! Captain, you sure know us very well." someone said.

"Oh, the captain sure has set his eyes on someone's wife. Things are going to be interesting." another commented with a dirty smile.

With a lustful smile, the middle-aged captain chuckled and quickly made his way outside the store a few meters away from the store, a large bungalow had nice colours to it, showing a gentle household for raising kids.

The captain immediately headed into the bungalow and he was very well welcomed by the survivors who knew nothing about his intentions.

It wasn't even up to a minute when the sound of a man being beaten to a pulp and the scream of a woman sounded out from the house. After which, it was the grunting of a man, the cry of a woman together with the slapping of flesh that echoes from the bungalow.

The other survivors hiding in their homes were confused as to what was going on.

Seeing that the captain was already enjoying himself, the nine others went to the other houses in search for their own enjoyment, including the three ladies.
