Chapter 5 - The Cold-blooded

[Vitality: 2.0! ]

Ryver's face flushed red and his body turned crimson like a shrimp on fire. His muscles trembled uncontrollably as he felt the previously tiny warm current coursing through his body suddenly blaze like wildfire.

Crash!

The glass cup within his palm fell to the ground and shattered. Ryver felt extremely hot, he couldn't hear a single noise, only the buzzing sound of his heart, pumping blood through his body filled his mind. It was as though his heart was about to leap out from his chest. He felt the pain in his chest easing as though his broken ribs were healing.

Suddenly, he felt as though he could breathe again and he inhaled deeply. Along with his exhale, the extreme feeling he had been experiencing vanished with it.

Ryver opened his eyes slowly

He could feel his eyesight had been strengthed and his listening range had improved.

That was the feeling! Although he hadn't experienced it before, various testimonies from several masters had reached his ears and they had described this feeling with one word, 'Indescribable!' Now, that was a feeling a virtual game can't possibly replicate.

He had finally reached 2 points in his vitality attribute, something that he had been trying to reach for a very long time which is obvious by the scars all over his body

[Verdict: You're twice as healthy as a normal human. ]

The first piece of information excited Ryver. Now his exercises would yield more points than previously. But he was even more excited about his vitality reaching 2 points.

After the euphoria faded, Ryver wet the cloth again with the bottle and drank the remaining water within the bottle, after which he placed the mask back on his face saw a laptop backpack by the bedside, he took a new bottle of Vodka that was still intact from the fall and packed three shirts of the male zombie clothes within, a lighter, and three bottles of water from the freezer and then three bags of chips.

Seeing that the bag was slightly heavy and might disrupt him during combat, Ryver sighed through the clothing on his nose and dropped the bottle of vodka to the ground, closed the bag and exited the room.

He headed for the elevator, hoping it still works. It was time to leave this place, Lyssa would be expecting him. He couldn't help but think how she would definitely find the situation funny.

Ryver smiled unconsciously at the thought of his daughter laughing as someone gets bitten by zombies.

"Hey! Hey! Janitor!" A male voice shouted from one of the rooms.

Cough! Cough!!

The man coughed as he exited his half-closed door and called out towards Ryver.

Ryver paused and gazed back at the person. He met a familiar face. It was Richard.

A stuck up rich bastard that made sure everything went his way. Ryver had bumped into him a few times and by the end of their meetings, Ryver had always wished to bash the bastard's head against the wall each time.

"Didn't you hear me calling you? What going on!? Everywhere started shaking as if we are under attack. My mini-bar, the chandeliers, my shelf and my god damn TV fell to the ground from the shaking. Fuck! I wasn't even done watching the  football yet. Come assist me with the TV, I need to finish watching the match." Richard tilted his head towards his room and began walking but then, he realised Ryver wasn't following him.

"Hey, didn't you hear me?" He scowled.

"I'm just a janitor, not a technician." With that, Ryver turned to leave.

Richard sneered. "Janitor, technician, they are both lowly jobs anyways, so what's the difference. Come in here and check it out. Don't even think about keeping your job if you don't have this fixed for me."

Ryver frowned slightly. Was this guy that dumb? He hadn't even noticed the bombings. Is it until the entire skyscraper collapses before he notices? Ryver thought and then he nodded his head.

"It's good that you know your place." Richard scoffed, leading Ryver to his room.

He then looked up, noticing the lights were flickering. "What's wrong with the lighting anyway? Is it because of the earthquake and what's with the awful air?" he scrunched up his nose, covering his nose with his robe.

Suddenly Richard felt someone yank him backwards by the hair. "W-what are you doing?"

"What I should have done a long time ago. You wouldn't survive here anyway so I better put you out of your misery. " Ryver whispered to his ears.

"W-what are you talking about?"

BANG!

He bashed the young man's head on the wall! The young man was immediately disoriented but Ryver didn't slow down, he repeatedly slammed the young man's head to the wall until it drew blood.

"You bastard! You dare attack me!? I will make sure you die in prison!" Richard screamed his lungs out in threat, struggling to get Ryver off him.

This made Ryver pause.

"That's right! Are you scared now? Don't even try to beg me! Even if you kneel and beg, you shall spend the rest of your life in prison! Are you still holding me! Release me at once!" Richard screamed like a chicken being slaughtered.

"Are you dea- cluck! Cluck!! " before he could finish his words, Richard felt cold steel passing through his throat and he was unable to speak a word.

His eyes widened as he felt hot liquid spill down his throat to his bathrobe. He stretched out his hand and touched his throat, feeling warm blood spilling out like a jet stream.

Strength began to leave him and he saw Ryver turn to face him and look him deep in the eyes as though savouring watching the life fade from his body.

"There's always a price to pay." Ryver muttered.

Richard felt indignant and was in disbelief! He didn't expect Ryver to outright kill him even in his wildest dream!

Soon, it was hatred he felt. He had too much future in front of him, his dreams and goals, he was still too young and hadn't even achieved half of it yet. But before he could think any further, death claimed him.

Ryver held Richard by the hair, he watched silently and closely as life literally seeped out from him. The feeling of life taken by his hand.

When Richard died, Ryver glanced at his notification and didn't see anything new within. He pursed his lips. "Really can't extract radiation from humans."

Cleaning his blade, Ryver walked towards the elevator and repeatedly clicked on the call button.

He waited for a while, he placed his finger below his neck and spoke, "Call Yvonne."
