The horse neighs, uneasy from the sound of swords that are closing in. He feels them, vicious creatures lurking, hiding from being discovered. But he knows, he is aware that they are there, ready to attack. He knew this could happen, but his motivation to get to her is too great and believes it will keep him alive.
You see, Asher didn’t bother getting to him before. He wasn’t important in his plan, just another pawn that will die by his hand. But now, he plays a big role. His blood changed the game, he sided with the enemy and ended up valuable. This, he did not predict. That makes him a threat that needs to be eliminated immediately.
And that is what Zed needs to escape from; death.
/"Come out,/" he calls out to Asher’s men, not wanting to play any more of their games. Slowly, one by one, they appear before his eyes. They know how good fighter Zed is and so they are really cautious around him.
