I swallow hard and squeeze my eyes shut. /"Yeah because you’re killing me here./" My voice becomes huskier.
She stands from my lap, this time I let her. I rub my face with my hands and release a deep breath.
/"Stop saying like that. I need to go home anyway./" She checks her phone.
/"I will send you just wait until I calm a bit./"
She looks at me with a query look. /"Did you forget I have my car down? And you rode to school with Garrett./"
/"And so? Can’t I send you? I’ll drive your car, then I’ll call a cab to get back home./"
She laughs. /"I’ll be fine, Phoenix. I’ll let you know if I get home safe./"
I grab her hand. /"Not so fast, always stubborn. It’s the right thing to do to send my date home, but I won’t insist. You might change your mind and text me that you don’t want to see me again./"
