/"No, I won't do it for you,/" Raven said, dropping a firm kiss to the top of his head. Those arms slid down, wrapping around his waist, holding his body close to his chest. /"It's something you have to do for yourself. But I'm here, squiggles. Right here. Borrow my strength if you have to. Take as long as you like to decide, but you have to be the one to do this./"
It was as the first tuft of hair fell into the sink that Ronan understood what Raven meant. He did have to do this. It had to be him — This was him reaching out and grabbing that dangling key. It was taking back his independence.
And when the buzzing died, his hair no more than a low graded buzz exaggerated the size of his head, there were tears in his eyes. But by the sparkly Gods of Neverland, the pressure that blackened his heart seemed to have chipped away by half.
/"Here,/" Raven said, holding out his hands for the hunk of machinery. /"Let me tidy up the edges./"
