They weren't the best gifts in the world, but on short notice, they'd made do.
She tried to buy him another gift; she'd already posted one she hadn't known he was coming. He let her buy him a fleecy jumper. It was grey with a koala on the front, and soft as cotton. Perfect to snuggle up and read in. They didn't have a plan. Didn't need one. The hours passed too quickly, the few precious moments he had between now and until he had to leave draining away bit by bit.
He was almost sad when they got back to the house. It was just after noon and his father was already back. He'd made reservations for four, and invited Raven to go for a drink with him.
