As Ronan bolted out of Flirts, he didn't feel the icy cold that waited for him, or the sly jabs of the wind. Noise welled up against his ears in a great surge, a ringing echo that vibrated down to his very core. Lights blinded him, and as he stumbled over to the curb, his foot slipping off it and pain exploding through his lower ankle and along his heel, he managed to catch himself before he hit the ground.
As the world shifted around him, orbiting in a sickening pendulum swing, it had nothing to do with the alcohol in his system, which seemed to have jumped ship and stranded him in a dire, far too serious state of sobriety, and everything to do with the spasming overload of information that he'd just taken in.
