/"I . . . please don't tell Raven that,/" Ronan whimpered, slamming his hands over his ears. He wanted to shut the memory up. To shut up every bad thought that had come from thinking about Adam, but ears and thoughts were not part of the same system, and it did nothing to silence it.
/"Why can't you tell Raven?/" Jackson took a step forward. Ronan took one back. The back of his thighs fell against the window seat ledge and his ass hit the hardwood. Jackson halted. Held his hands up in surrender. /"We are more than the things that happen to us, Ronan, and you didn't see the way he was looking at you earlier. You don't think him knowing that would change the way he saw you, do you?/"
/"I feel like everyone thinks I'm weak,/" he whispered. /"I'm not weak. I can defend myself. I'm probably stronger than he was and could have fought back but . . ../"
