There he was again, standing in front of another mirror, trying to decipher if the man staring back was friend or foe.
He stared long and hard, holding the eyes that burnt with striking familiarity, drinking in the well-versed features. He stared until his eyes teared up and the unyielding force of his own gaze became a black hole that threatened to suck him in. And when he finally looked away, it was only for a moment.

Lifting his head from the murky water that had collected in the basin, the plug jammed and a washcloth floating along the surface, he drew in a forceful breath.
