His Vovo had once warned him that every path would lead back to the starting line until he paved the one in which his destiny flowed.
When his destiny had seemed like an integrating tumble of winding roads that always led to him following in his father's footsteps, the restart phase of life had always held a certain appeal. Like a safety net falling down between him and the grasping hands of no-way-out. But it was borrowed time at most, and sooner or later, his path always narrowed onto the same well-oiled strip of doom.
Except a new path had opened out. A brighter one. One that had been hidden by doubt and fear, concealed by the trickster shadow that had lurked over him throughout the entirety of his adolescence and adulthood.
And maybe there was some truth to his Vovo's words because as he churned it over, the more he realised that for the last five years, all roads had led back to Ronan.
