Adele cannot suppress her excitement at her first sighting of Hippo and moves to the stern of the launch to get a better look. The launch slowly chugs into deeper water, breaking the mirror surface as it moves forward.
The surface of the water explodes, as an angry hippo bull launches an unexpected attack on the launch, the prow is lifted into the air by the force of the charge, the group finds themselves flung into the stern, the hippo attacks again, lifting the boat, capsizing it.
They flounder in the water, knowing that they were now in the kingdom of the crocodiles, the image of the large reptiles basking in the sun further up river very fresh on their minds.
