#Chapter52
Piet is abruptly awake at the shrill ringing of the cell phone, fighting with the mosquito net that surrounds his bed; he grabs the phone and succeeds in knocking it flying across the floor, where it slides under the cupboard.
/"Nee fok, nou soek jy kak./" He bends and pushes the phone out from under the cupboard. He picks it up and notices that the ringing has stopped; he brings it to his ear.
/"Hallo./"
/"Is that how you greet an old friend Piet?/"
/"Nee fok, ag man I mean sorry, how the hell are you Veronica?/"
/"Very well thank you and doing better than you are, as far as I gather from Peggy./"
/"Ja, you’ve got that right. Anyway, thank you for calling. We’ve got a bit of a problem over here, and I was wondering if maybe you can throw some light on it for me. The whole bloody situation has got me worried, as there is more to this story than meets the eye./"
