I had thought the mating bond was the strongest pull I'd ever experienced. But it was nothing compared to the obsession that tugged me mercilessly forward. I wasn't able to stop until I got to a beach and the sting of the ocean assaulted my senses. Bianca was racing across the sand until she darted onto a pier, glancing back at me. I'd caught up to her. My baby was summoning me. Her feet pounded against the wood, she was running like her life depended on it. And it did. She got to the end of the pier and skidded to a stop, whirling to confront me, my blanketed babe held closer to her chest. She looked at me, then down at him. She pulled him away, holding the bundle directly over the ocean. I had no choice but to stop, eyes glued to my child. She wouldn't dare.
