#Chapter40
Car Problems
Patty
I walked out to my car, climbed in, and tried to start it, but it wouldn’t start. It wouldn’t even turn over. Damn it. I didn’t have time for car problems.
I glanced at my wristwatch. I could walk, taking a few more minutes longer than it would with a car. I debated for a minute.
Someone asked, /"Car trouble?/" Nate walked out to his car.
/"Yeah! I don’t understand what’s the problem!/"
/"Well, I’m passing by the school if you want a ride?/"
I stood there and thought about it. Eh, why not? It’s better than walking. I walked over to his car and got into it. He climbed into the driver’s side. Once I fastened my seatbelt, he backed out of the driveway.
We talked little until he said he would check out my car when he got a chance. Nate was interesting. We used to talk all the time, but something had changed between us, and I didn’t know what it was.
