Late Night Chats

After sharing a Slurpee with Nate, I went about with my business. That meant school and my part-time job since I was trying to save for school. A scholarship and grants help, but I needed to make up the difference.
Each evening, someone tapped on my windowsill, only to find Nate standing there. The light from my window illuminated a part of him while the night hid the rest. If it weren’t for a hint of light, I wouldn’t recognize him.
Every night was something different with him. He’s looking for my brother, he’s bored, so forth and so on. I didn’t mind. We ended up talking about everything and nothing, and it reminded me of when I was younger with him.
/"I miss this,/" he said.
/"Miss what?/"
/"Our talks. You could always make me laugh./"
/"Yep, I’m a real comedian./" I grinned.
/"What changed?/" He looked at me, and I looked at the sky, thinking.
