I fumed at what happened to Patty and knew who had done it. I’m sure of it, but I had to wait. Age had been a significant consideration. But the minute I got a chance, I would show Brian not to mess with Patty.

I plodded to the bathroom, stripped off my clothes, and let the tomato-ridden garments fall to the floor. I turned on the shower, set the temperature, and climbed in.
If a skunk had sprayed me, I would have welcomed someone pelting me with tomatoes to rid me of the stench.
No, I got lucky to have my former crush throw tomatoes at me and laugh. Danny and Nate had pulled into the driveway and stared at me like a freak, and the thought irked me.
I washed the tomatoes off me and washed my hair twice until I was clean. I got out, dried my body, and wrapped a towel around me.
