#Chapter14
Sadie
Nora
I stood in a cemetery, watching Matthew place flowers on a grave. When I mentioned Sadie, this wasn’t what I meant.
Matthew brushed grass clippings away from her headstone, then stood up. /"After Sadie died, I would visit her grave every day. I thought it would keep her close to me./" Matthew looked at the headstone.
/"You don’t have to talk about what happened./"
Matthew glanced at me. /"You need to know. It’s not as difficult to talk about it now./"
/"Whenever you’re ready./"
We turned and walked.
/"When I was a junior in high school, I met Sadie. She was quiet but wasn’t like most girls. We got to know each other, and I found her smart and funny. I thought, wow, this girl is incredible. Then we started dating./"
We walked through the cemetery, making our way to another destination.
