Engagement party

Friday arrived, and I got ready for the engagement party. I left and went to Pat and Britt’s house. I entered the home, seeing many people. Damn, this family is enormous.
I said hello to a few people before heading to the kitchen. I found a cup and poured a drink.
/"Hey, hermit,/" Presley said in my ear.
I turned my head and gave Presley a look. He chuckled.
/"I’m not a hermit. I’ve been busy with the house and work./"
/"Have you tried to kill any family members lately?/" Presley teased.
/"No, I’ve been learning how to do home repairs myself./" I rolled my eyes.
/"I thought Matt was helping you./"
/"Well, Matthew was. He then discovered a necklace I had discovered in a hotel room. He thinks I’m a thief./"
Presley gave me a strange look.
/"Matthew had received the necklace the day of Sadie’s funeral./"
/"Oh./"
I furrowed my brows. /"I didn’t know./"
