#Chapter39
Raising kids
Nora
We adjusted to Elias, and Matt equipped the house for Elias’s needs. Mason and Skylar had their son, who they named Owen. He had a mixture of Skylar’s hair color and Mason’s eye color. Owen was a few months younger than Elias.
We took Elias to the doctor. After many hearing tests and other tests, they confirmed Elias was deaf. His eardrums never developed. When he’s a little older, he would have surgery to repair them. The doctor would fit him with hearing aids. They would help, but he would still be deaf.
It didn’t matter because Matt and I helped Elias. We learned sign language, and so did the family.
Markus and Mason visited us. Mason brought Owen to play with Elias. Markus walked over to Elias and signed. Elias grinned and waved.
/"How’s Elias doing?/" Mason asked.
