It's been two days since I returned home. I wasn't sure if I was going to fully resign from the company or of it was just temporary.
I would continue working there for my family, but I would do them no good dead. I didn't know how long the break was going to last.
When I decided to take a break all I could think of was getting away from my boss. Some of my family have managed to pay me a visit, to them I was this executive working in the city, and working in KING'S INDUSTRIES just made it seem like I was this big time city girl but I wasn't.
I'm just a girl who works her butt off trying to give herself and her family a better life.
I spent the whole day reading form my childhood library. I had this collection of books when I was younger. I bought books, mainly fictions. I spent the day rereading them and dealing with a nostalgic feeling.
Reading these books was the only time I had alone, I was usually working in the library, helping out at Aunt Celine's cafe, taking care of Sam and my dad or maintaining the house
The books took my mind off reality, I was in a new world and journey with the characters in the books and that was usually able to distract me, but now these books weren't enough to distract me from my boss.
I guess I've matured out of hiding behind the pages of books.
Looking out the window, it seems the sun would start setting soon. It was almost five o'clock. I decided to go out for fresh air.
I could be able to come back in time to prepare dinner.
My legs took me to wonderland. Wonderland was a place, it was at the edge of the woods or in the woods.
Just beyond the park. Everyone in town called it wonderland because if the fantastic view at the edge of the small cliff. Flowers were growing out the sides of the rocks it added to the peaceful setting.
Normally it is the ideal place for lovers. Young highschool lovers would come here and confess their undying love for each other.
The sky was already changing colors, the cloud was covering the sun giving the cloud this certain orange color. I decided to head back home, Sam gets very hungry after practice. I decided to head to the park, making my way home.
"Leaving so soon?"I would recognize that voice anywhere.
It was the voice I ran away from.
Emerging from behind one of the trees surrounding wonderland that led to the park was Mr Marcelo.
He looked as usual like a grim reaper in his all black clothing. Black suit, black tie and a black waist length coat, the only thing that stopped him from looking full reaper was the white shirt he had in below the custom designed suit.
His hair was in it's usual perfect style, except it looked a little rough like he ran his fingers through it and that just made it look all the more perfect.
His hands as always was buried in his pocket. He had a sly devilish smirk on his face, he looked like a lion who had just caught it's prey after a very long chase.
And I looked like an antelope that has been caught in a deer trap. I just stood there waiting for a sign that this was a nightmare.
I didn't even realize that he had already moved very close now.
"M-Mr Ma-celo"
I willed myself to say more but I couldn't.
"I miss you my vixen"
he used his index finger to lift my chin making me meet his empty grew eyes but this time the didn't look so empty but I couldn't point out what was in his eyes, I was too afraid to.
I snapped out of it. Pulling my face away from his hand and taking a step back.
"What are you doing here?" I didn't intend for it to come out so rude and cold but it did. I just owned it.
He was amused by my attitude and he seemed to be enjoying it.
Then my brain registered.
'He's here!'
' He's in my town, where my family and friends live!'
'Hell no'.
"You should leave... NOW" he just stared at me like a circus monkey with a snake head.
I tried to walk away from him but was pulled back. I tried to snatch my arm from him but his grip was tight, it would definitely leave a bruise.
He didn't have a smirk on his face now. His face was emotionless, but the rage in his eyes was visident.
"I've given you enough space"
I was confused about what he meant by space.
"Space?"I asked.
"Two days is enough space"
What he meant clicked, and that just made me angry. I left San Francisco to get away from him forever,I didn't need is calculated space.
"You are a sick man Marcelo" I said before jerking my arm away from him. I headed out of the park to go home.
He's a sick man, that was already evident. He acted like he owned everyone. He was dangerous and I would get away from him no matter what.
****************************
After I made dinner, I wasn't ready to eat, so I just stayed in my room with songs blasting out if my headphone. I blocked every thought of Marcelo King from my mind. He was not getting to me.
He's clearly involved in some mafia type shit and I'm not ready for his shit
I already told Sam to do the dishes and help dad to bed. Normally my neighborb Ms Selena helps dad when I'm not home but anytime I get back I take over.
My door burst open, it was Sam with a weird expression in his face. I removed my headphone glaring at him.
"What did I say about barging into my room Sam"
"It's not my fault you didn't respond when I called you" he childishly retorted.
"What do you want?"
His eyes widen like he remembered something very important.
"Your boyfriend is here"
I looked at him like he had more than one head. Boyfriend?.
"Boyfriend?"
"I can't believe he's your boyfriend"and then he dashed into the hallway.
"What boyfriend?!...Sam!Sam!" I called after him but he was clearly gone.
I rushed out of my bed. I stood on the stairs when I heard voices coming from the living room. I rushed downstairs into the living room.
And the sight before me just made me want to burst into tears in frustration.
It seems they noticed my presence because they all stopped talking and faced me.
My dad, brother and... Mr freaking Marcelo!.
"What are you doing here?"and yes that came out as cold as I intended.
"Susan" I looked at dad, who clearly wasn't pleased by how rude I was but I was too pissed to care.
"You have a boyfriend and you didn't think to tell us" this time it was Sam.
It didn't matter that I love him I wanted to hit his head.
"He's leaving"
"You really do not want us to Know your boyfriend and now you are mad at him for coming to see us, are you that embarrassed of us" Sam said.
He was angry, but I didn't have time to try to pacify him.
"That's not it Sam and you wouldn't put this on me right now"
I headed towards the devil that sat in my home. I pulled his hand and led him away from the house to our backyard.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see your family" he said nonchalantly.
"That's not what this is about and you know that"
The nonchalant look in his face was gone.
"I'm here to get you back"
I just froze with what he said.
I didn't know how to respond
that and I was too scared to respond to that
"Leave" to my dismay my voice shook instead of the strong tone I intended.
"You know I won't"he smirked.
"Wh-at do you want?"
"You... I want YOU"
I didn't respond to that, I couldn't respond. I didn't know what to say or how to react but I was screwed.
****************
Twenty seven hours later my family and more than half of the people in our town believes that I'm the girlfriend of a very powerful business tycoon.
"I'm sorry for not telling you dad...it was complicated"
I wanted to bite off my tounge. Mr Marcelo always gets what he wants and now everyone believes I'm his girlfriend.
"He's your boss moonshine, he's a very powerful man"
Dad was clearly worried.
Who wouldn't be. Mr Marcelo was a powerful aristocrat and not to mention a murderer who wouldn't leave me alone, but dad didn't know that
"I'm fine dad. We are fine" I tried to assure him.
Personally I was scared out of my wits, he involved my family.
I walked over to him, squatting beside his chair, I held onto the arm rest of his chair looking up at him.
"I'm really fine dad"I flashed the brightest smile I could muster.
I was really good at fake smiles and happiness. I did it a lot when I was a teenager.
He looked down at me with that fatherly look in his eyes that made me feel so warm. He ruffled my hair a little bit.
"I'll always worry about you moonshine, but it's nice to know that you have someone by your side." He pressed a kiss against my forehead.
At this moment, right now, I was happy. I was with my family, wrapped in their warmth, and for a tiny second I forgot about my boss, but reality sucks as everything came crashing back, and I worry about my future and the future of my family.
********************************
"So a boyfriend huh?"
I heard Sam say behind me. I knew I would have to explain to him. I'll make up stuff about my happy fairytale relationship with my boss.
I didn't bother turning around to look at him but I very much felt his presence, my hands slowed down a little against the white ceramic plate.
"He's a business moguel" Sam said slowly like he was explaining to me who he was.
I stopped what I was doing and turned to face him. He was leaning against the kitchen island, his hands folded over his chest and his face held a very serious expression.
"Why didn't you tell anyone you have a boyfriend?"
"It's my personal life sam, I didn't need the share it"
he was clearly not satisfied by my answer.
He scoffed in annoyance at my reply.
"He's your boss"
"I'm aware Sam"
"You clearly were not happy to see him at the house" this time he was standing in front and of me.
"Relationships are complicated Sam, I wasn't ready for him to meet you guys".l lied.
Sam didn't respond, he just stood there, watching me. It was sweet and all that he cares for me but these is just making it difficult for me to lie to his face.
"I'm a grown woman Sam, I can make decisions like these,I'm in a relationship and I'm happy, I wasn't sure where our relationship stood that was why I was mad at the fact that he was in our home" I falsely assured him.
I was good at lying, I've been doing it a long time, people loved to ask how I was doing after the accident and I learnt how to fake my happiness and smiles. Now it just came naturally.
"Having a relationship with your boss who is a very powerful man does not seem like a good idea but as long as you are happy" he said" At least now you know where you guys stand seeing that he came to see us. Seems like he cares about you"
I just nodded my head at what the said, seems like he buys it. Only if he knew.
************************
I looked out the window staring at the shops, building and stores that passed. I failed to acknowledge the presence beside me.
Two days ago after his appearance at my house, he insisted no demanded or threatened me to go back with him. I didn't want to but at least he would be away from my family.
We were heading back to the city. I stole a glance at him from the side of my eyes, his whole attention was on his phone.
Probably ordering his assassins to murder someone he dislikes. Whatever it was I didn't care the only thing that was on my mind was my future.
I opened my eyes slowly only to be met with a blinding light. Groaning I buried my face into the very soft pillow that seems to be covered with silk. I immediately open my eyes and sat up.
I was in an unfamiliar room, but a very luxurious one. The room was huge and had three doors and one of them should lead outside, I was on a king sized bed and a bug french window that was partly covered by a blind.
The memory of yesterday rushed to me. I must have slept off in his car. I laid my feet on the floor that was when I noticed my clothes.
I was no longer in the v neck sweater and blue jeans that I had no yesterday. I was clad in a low cut v neck peach colored silk night gown that only reached below my butt, it had flimsy spaghetti straps.
I had no memory of coming into this room or wearing this gown. The silk materials felt very good against my skin. I walked over to the floor length mirror that stood besides the dressing table that was filled with feminine products.
Apart from the sign that I just woke up, I didn't look terrible, except for my best head. I ran my fingers through my hair and patting it down a little to tame it.
The oak door pushed open. A middle aged woman in a maid dress appeared from behind the door, her blonde hair pulled tightly into a bun.
"Good morning Miss...Master Marcelo would like you to come downstairs to Join him from breakfast"
At the mention of his name I froze, I had forgotten about him for a minute which I wished had continued.
I nodded at her muttering a little thank you. I decided to freshen up. It's time to have breakfast with the devil.
