Chapter 16 - Drunken night with the devil

All I could think about since that night was about that waitress, I remembered the look on Marcelo's face when I opened my eyes. The side of his lips rose in a smirk, he looked at me with a certain look I couldn't recognize, all I could do was cry louder. His men took the groaning workers away.

I hated him so much. I didn't hide it, it was clearly noticable the way I glared at him through my tears. The next thing he did surprised me. He went back to his seat and continued eating like absolutely nothing happened and ordered the glass and blood be cleaned.

I wanted to shout at him do much, how could someone be so cruel, he was the devil. He hurt another innocent man just to make me hurt someone .

I was once that girl, I had landed a job in a fancy restaurant during college. I knew what it was like to be harassed by rich jerk.

They touch you when they like, they expect you to do whatever they ask just because you weren't in their status.

I remembered how much I hated working there, but scholarship can't cover your feeding and housing.

Dad had exhausted all our money in his insane quest to get his legs back after the accident, he borrowed loan to pay for his medical visit to the UK, China, India, south Africa and more countries I couldn't remember.

He was so engrossed in getting his legs back and after a whole year we were out of all we had.

I had to work not only for myself but for Sam and Dad. I couldn't quit or fight back and one day one of the rich jerk when too far and I couldn't stop myself. I gave him a neat black eye, although I was satisfied, I was still fired.

And three days later I was kicked out of my tiny one room apartment. I knew how hard working is, I knew how hard working for rich jerk was.

I thought I had it bad but the thought of that girl crying with blood dripping from her arm I knew I wasn't the only one who have it worse.

I haven't left my room since that day. I stayed in my room and ate dinner but not breakfast. He ordered me to and I was too scared to refuse in fear that he was going to hurt someone else to get me to do what he wanted.

I couldn't look at him. I hated him so much. I didn't realise how cruel he was but I did now. I realised it didn't matter who gets hurt or how many but as long as he had his way.

He's psychotic and crazy that is what he is. CRAZY.

He watched as she stuffed the food in her mouth. She was trying so hard not to look at him, and was eating so fast to get away from him.

He didn't care, that was what he at least told himself.

He couldn't forget the way she looked that night. Her face drenched in tears, her body shaking as she son's, her straight smooth hair fell covered her face like a curtain as she cried. Her hand still holding tight to the now bloody ceramic.

He could certainly see the hate in her eyes, he could smell the fear from her but it wasn't as strong as her hate and for some reason it made him uncomfortable.

She stood up and rushed out of the dinning room immediately after she ate her breakfast making sure not to look at him.

**********************

" You don't have to feel to different"

She said.

He looked down at her hand that covered his lovingly. Her eyes although struggling to stay open looked at him with... Compassion. A look so foreign yet felt so warm.

"I'm not a good person" he tried to convince the girl before him. He wanted her to know he didn't deserve the warmth she was giving him. He wanted her to know he was beyond redemption.

She chuckled a little at that statement."Who really is?" .

He was surprised at her question. It was obvious the girl wasn't herself, she probably won't know what happened but at this moment he was vulnerable

He felt a warm sensation in his face, he looked down to see a hand caressing the side of his face attempting to get rid of the red liquid that stained his skin.

Her hand felt so soft and warm against his face. He felt a pressure on the side of his face, she was trying to get him to look at her and when he did, he felt all warm and giddy inside. She just stared into his eyes not moving and he also didn't dare to because for some reason, he couldn't feel it hear his raging demons.

The moment was silent until she released a small sigh.

"You are hurt" He was taken aback by what she said.

He pulled away from her, he wasn't ready to wake his demons when for the very first time they went quite.

"It's okay"she let out a small chuckle at his reaction.

"I'm hurt too, everyone is...at l-least in some w-ways"

He looked at her as she drawled out her last words.

"You should go" he told her, although he didn't want her to, she needed it.

"Nooo, I'm not going anywhere...Y-you are hurt, I can feel it, I'm hurt too...my past wasn't rainbows and cupcakes".

"Should I tell you a secret" she moved closer to him wisphering in his ear.

"I'm not a good person too".

"I doubt that."he told her. And for some moments none of them said anything.

"Come on!" She suddenly yelled, he was startled at first. "Tell me everything... Come on" she dramatically motioned to herself, placing her palm on her chest

"If I do you'll run" he told her.

She was silent for a moment.

He thought he had scare her away, one part of him was not happy, another part glad.

"Trust me... I've tried to run away from so many things, so many times and I couldn't.

I promise I won't runaway. I can't if I want to... I'm veeeerrry bad at running from things" he looked over at the tiny girl that said it.

She was so small compared to his frame, but she sat so close he could feel her body warmth.

She nodded at him, her eyes encouraging him to spill what was in his head. He could have chosen to ignore her and keep quiet but for some reason he wanted to, he wanted to talk to her,for some reason he believed her promise not to run away form him.

"A very bad person died today" he looked down at his still bloody hands.

The blood mostly dried glued to his skin. "I killed him" and for a second , he felt her pull away he couldn't feel her warmth anymore and for a second he was both sad and mad.

He turned his head to look at her hesitantly. She just stared at him, she looked at his hands that was half covered in dried blood, the blood splatter that was dried against his face that she attempted to clean off.

"Did he hurt you?" He was more than shocked, how could she ask him that.

He looked down at her innocent eyes staring at his for am explanation.

"He hurt a lot of people"he replied her.

She nodded her head, looking down at her fingers.

"Do you kill bad guys a lot?" She asked.

He nodded his head."Most of the times". He knew she would think he was some kind of law enforcement. He knew that statement had two meanings.

"Oh... then why are you sad?...he was a bad man was he not?" She asked.

He nodded his head.

"I have demons...I'm a bad person with very dark thoughts" he thought with that she would be a little scared to talk to him but she wasn't.

"I told you I'm not a good person too. Today I intentionally poured the punch on my colleague's skirt and I acted-"she looked like she was about to say something big and despicable "- I acted like I knew n-nothing"she laughed at herself.

"I'm pretty sure my thoughts are more darker than than".

He looked at her face, her face wasn't smiling anymore. It was serious.

"It's okay to have dark thoughts and to sometimes act on it.. you are only human" .

He was surprised by what she said.

"You are the first person that didn't cower and run away from me".

"Why?"

"Because I'm crazy, psychotic according to lot of people...and they are not wrong"

"I don't believe you"

"They all fear me. They should."

"I'm not scared of you, I'll never be scared of you" she said holding his arm.

He hasn't someone who isn't scared of him. He scared people.

"Not even when I tell you that I have killed someone by ripping out his throat and watch him gurgle on his own blood, or I've made a man watch his heart get ripped out before he died

"

She looked at him, her eyes wide and in shock, the smirk on his face disappeared as he watched her expression, before she burst into a fit of laughter.

" Th-that is dark and gruesome."

He didn't expect her reaction.

He wondered if she thought he was joking.

"I thought you'll have ran away by now" he told her truthfully.

She carried his palm in hers then he noticed that she was wrapping a green handkerchief around his bruised knuckles.

" A lot of people have ran away from you... I get it, a lot of people have ran away from me before, and it hurts every time. We've been through so much they expect us to snap at one point. I don't think you are a bad person. You are a fighter and a survivor and even surviving takes some things from you... Hey!. You freaking demons"

She held his face in her hands framing his face

" You have been through some bad shit with him and that sucks, but leave him the hell alone will you... Good boy" she ended by patting his his cheeks.

For the first time, his eyes was laced with warm liquid as he looked at her beautiful eyes.

She smiled at him, her eyes became a few shades lighter. Her warm breath smelt of alcohol. She boldly pressed a small kiss on his cheeks before staggering up.

She streached her body making a weird sound.

"Susan!" A distant voice called.

"Hey that's my name " she chuckled.

She turned around, turning a few times.

"Susan!" The voice called a little closer. Coming out of the shadow was a pink haired lady.

The girl squinted her to see the person coming, but all she could see was a blur

"Leo!" She yelled out.

The girl came closer falling on her new colleagues, resting her whole body on her.

"Marcelo?" Leo was surprised to see the last person she was expecting.

The girl kept saying gibberish to her friend who started pulling her away.

She immediately turned to the man she was sitting with.

"Bye... I hope I see you again"

And she was gone.

"Susan" He tested the name and it felt good.

"My star"

****************

"Where did he take her to Miller?..."

Leo threatened.

Miller looked at his sister. She glared at him.

"I'm sure she's fine" he tried to assure her, he himself didn't believe it.

"You know how he is... He is very dangerous" she ran her fingers through her purple .

"This is all your fault" she growled at him.

"You made her go to new York with him" she hit his shoulder.

Miller groaned gripping his shoulder in pain.

" She's just his new entertainment" he lied to convince his sister.

She glared deathly at him.

"You know she isn't... She more and she has been for the past three years"

"She can't handle him, we are not sure what is going on in his crazy mind... You have to get her out" She looked at her brother, her eyes begging him.

"I'm sorry, I can't" He shook his head

.

"Arrggghhh!" She yelled, breaking everything in her sight.

Her heart ached at the thought of what might be happening to her.

"Oh Susan "
