"Oh, you're back. Where'd you go?" Lily questioned with curiosity in her words.
"Don't worry about it, "Luke assured her.
It seemed like he was hiding something from her. It was quite evident with the sweat on his. The two continued chatting while having their breakfast.
Why does it feel like a mini-date
Luke questioned himself as the surrounding was calm, the scenery outside the hall was beautiful, and the food they were taking looked fancy. Even Lily had the same feeling but did not try to show it.
Suddenly little devices were ringing in the pockets of every person in the hall, even Luke himself.
[ @AttackTeam and @Elites assemble at the teleportation room with your gear and weapon. It's a land battle against True North. Be prepared for a battle. ]
A message could be seen on the little devices which Marker sent. They were called M2MMD short for Master to Members Messaging Device. Quite a long name if you ask me.
On reading the message, all the attack team members and elite exited the hall in quick succession without causing a mess.
The teleportation room wasn't a room really but a structure that resembled a mini-hall with a huge bluish-colored portal at the end of the room.
"Okay, everyone, listen up! True North has threatened one of our allies and we can't accept that, can we?" Marker shouted in a loud voice so that he could be heard.
"No sir! We can't accept that!" the attack team responded.
"Then I expect all of you to do your best in this minor battle,"
When this was happening, Luke looked around to see he was the only elite who was around. But looking around the room he saw the others forming like a plan.
"Okay so Marker told me to tell you this, We are going to pair up and it goes like this: Luke pairs with Sarah, Lynn with Ember, William with Eva leaving me and Ava."
"So Marker will lead a huge on his own to the enemies' main base while the rest guard the rendevous points assigned to the pairs. Got it team? I'll take that as yes. " Lily informed the team of the arrangement.
As soon as Lily finished, Marker also shouted words at the attack team. Within a flash, the group teleported out of there and appeared at a grassy of Planet Koro.
The attack team split into groups and the elite pairs got their groups' and headed for each of their areas to settle and wait for the go-ahead.
The group of Marker headed North marching in an arrow arrangement. The archers, marksmen, and mages were at the back while the swordsmen and assassins were at the front lines.
Their marching speed showed the urgency of the matter as they approached a large forest. Upon reaching the forest, their leader told them to hold and wait as the scouts went in first to survey their battlefield.
"Everyone prepare well, take your mana boost bars, and wait as the scouts look out the area for any traps or triggers," Marker announced to the group.
I hope that the others are okay
* * *
Back to Luke and Sarah's group who occupied the eastern part of the plains. The sun was bearing down on them, the group had to put up tents to avoid mana loss.
This happens when the sun heats the skin which makes the pores widen allowing the mana particles to escape from the skin.
"Hey, boy, do you drink?" Sarah asked while looking at him seductively.
"Uh, no."The stare was all it took to make him answer quickly.
Sarah, the woman who can make you either lose your mind or destroy it entirely. She loves to drink alcohol and other exotic drinks from other planets. Being 5ft 8" and having a curvy body, any man could easily fall in love and crave her touch.
With her nature, William had a hard time choosing the right wifey because Sarah kept seducing him but Ember did her best to convince him. It was a back-and-forth battle until eventually, Ember won over William.
But she didn't stop there. She went on and tried to get Marker but that plan didn't work out well. Marker wanted to be a bachelor but people confused him for being homosexual for making gay jokes with William.
Soon enough, the two started chatting so as to get along and share more about their skills so as to get the chemistry up.
Aside from skills, chemistry is important when you are teamed up with someone. No professional in the universe would go alone in a fight where the enemies have a lot of chemistry. But also it could be bad for the teamed allies if they have bad relations. Basically, it's a double-edged sword with its pros and cons.
" You have some nice skills, Sarah, but I think...." Luke said before getting cut off by a sound from a nearby bush.
Immediately he stood up and went to check it out. Slowly making his way to the bush he picked a pebble and threw it...
"Oh, it's just a bunny," as a white bunny exposed itself.
Something is off
Luke looked at the bunny well and spotted its camera-looking eyes. To make it more suspicious, there is no species of white bunnies on Planet Koro especially in the Darkwood Forest. Before the bunny got away, he grabbed it by its ears and kicked like a football, hitting a boulder in its course. It broke into multiple robotic pieces.
"Knew it," he muttered under his breath.
"So what do we do?"Sarah questioned.
It was a difficult moment for the two as the attack team didn't notice what was happening.
"AttackTeam stay alert! We're being watched!" Luke warned everyone
Soon enough everyone in that area stood up and was fully focused on the issue at hand. Luke informed Esther to tell the others about the situation and to be prepared.
A few moments passed and the area was quiet but seconds later, a trumpet was blown.
"Brrr!! Brrr!! Brrr!!"
Then a war cry could be heard northwards where Marker's group was. All the other groups paced in that direction. It was a strategy where one group was attacked, all other groups surrounded the main group's weak points which could be exploited by potential ambushers.
Luke's group was the first to arrive in the area where no sunlight could penetrate the large leaves of Darkwood Forest. Being partially dark, a member of the AttackTeam activated a skill where small but bright green orbs floated among the group members.
Then a beep rang on Luke's wristwatch which brought up a map and red dots were flashed while moving in their direction
"Hey, Luke so I have sent you live info on your targets, thank me later," said Esther through the voice note of the file.
***Somewhere else***
Deep in a dark forest, shadows could be seen moving at a walking pace while still being careful. They were the assassin group of True North, highly professional, and could end fights in seconds.
They were going about the tracks with an arrow formation but were separated by the large trees.
"Pahh!"
One of the members fell to the ground from the gunshot. They got into an alert stance, looking around for the person who did that.
"Pahh!"
Another one downed, and they started to panic and got behind the trees which acted like cover. But one of them was still standing there, looking at where the shot had come from. Then he saw the eyes of a person then he saw a bullet come from the same direction.
"Pahh!"
The man could be seen in the air and the bullet passed underneath his feet.
He then started to cast his ice spell in the direction where the sniper was.
"Ice god help me get rid of my enemies, Frost Spikes!"
Soon enough ice spikes appeared out of thin air and went for the sniper. The sniper sees her life flashing before her life but before it reaches her head, a man jumps in front of her takes the spikes to the chest, and falls due to the force.
The ice mage sees this weird act of sacrifice and continues to prepare another spell but before the spell manifests, the man who took the spikes could be seen standing upright with no injuries or blood strains. This shocked the ice mage to the core and immediately stopped his casting.
***Back to Luke's group*** Luke's POV***
We were guided by the map where the best place was to ambush the enemy group. The AttackTeam was setting up a plan while Sarah and I did some recon of the enemy. Moments later I noticed a 20-man group separated by the thick and huge trees. This was a plus for us and I informed Sarah; who was a sniper, that there were enemies.
She didn't spare any second and set up her " The Onyx Beak " which was a stylish name for a sniper. Shots flew and she got three soldiers but an ice mage stood there and casted his spell which was headed for Sarah. I didn't watch any time and dived in front of the spikes which kinda hurt on impact but I had a trick under my sleeve. Hold up rewind < <<< < <
Moments before she started sniping, I told her that if she gets into trouble, I'll take damage. The statement confused her but she trusted my plan and went a long with it.
