Well, that happened. I was hit with ten ice spikes to my chest but seconds later they disappeared and I stood up to show I was more alive than ever. I could see the ice mage's expression, which wasn't happy.
He stopped his casting and took a step back from the other assassins. What made it worse was that Sarah got back to sniping which put them in a state of panic. Even the ice mage, their leader started to run but their numbers started to reduce with every shot.
"Pahh!" "Pahh!" "Pahh!"
Bodies left, right, and center, the ice mage couldn't believe it and he activated a skill that made him slide away while sliding on the ice.
"Damn, he got away, anyways he'll come back again." Sarah cursed.
All this happened when the AttackTeam wasn't aware of what was happening. They thought the shots were from Marker's group which was fighting the main group of True North.
***Marker's Group***
The scene was a mess, pools of blood could be seen. Bodies, some split in two, some headless and this was all Marker's group doing.
A man with dark armor was standing at the frontlines, bodies around him. On his hands was the head of the leader of True North, Bryan. The man with dark armor was none other than Marker. He knelt and dug a small hole placing his head in it and buried it.
Marker then stood up and looked behind him to see some of his soldiers, some dead and some heavily injured.
He looked into his smart wristwatch and called Esther.
"Rinnng"
"Yes, Master Marker?"
"Get me the healers and activate the portal we are coming back,"
"Alright done, anything else my master?"
" Prepare a piece of land when I come back,"
" Alright see you soon,"
He ended the call and took a deep breath looking at the red-orange sky, the time flew so fast but seemed so long. He looked down to see some of the bodies which were dead were his fallen brothers in arms.
Hopefully, the IGF group doesn't find out.
He muttered under his breath. IGF or InterGalaxy Federation was in charge of matters concerning peace and war. But Marker didn't need to worry because True North violated many guidelines, making them banished from the galaxy.
That being said, True North lost the privileges of being a member of IGF, one being that they would not have any protection against any danger of any form.
He got off his thoughts and started to head to the portal. Also, other AttackTeam members followed his lead while some were carried on stretchers because of the injuries.
The split elite team and other AttackTeam members were also called to the rendevous point where the portal was located.
*Some Hours Later*
Marker placed a flower on the ground and then took some steps back. The scenery was outskirts of the Onyx Headquarters where they usually bury their fallen warriors. After the flower was placed on the green grass plain, everyone there said a short prayer for their fallen ones.
"Live long, Oh, soldier of peace and the Legendary Dragon, Onyx."
The atmosphere was of sadness but it started to break up when the session was over and everyone continued on with their daily duties.
Lily and Ava were looking at him from a distance, each other thinking of a way to talk to him but that chance was taken by someone else.
"Hello, Luke. Have we talked before?" a woman-like figure asked which turned out to be Lynn.
"Damn, it's Lynn," the two eavesdroppers said in sync even though they were at two different points looking at the same person.
"Not really, what's up Lynn?"Luke asked.
"Marker told me to guide you to the armory so that you select some few items. . ."
After the small talk, Luke followed Lynn leaving the area to the two eavesdroppers who got out of their hiding place after he left. When they both saw each other, Lily couldn't help but grin at Ava.
"Just give it up, Ava. The bet you made on him, I won that. He. is. mine "Lily said proudly.
"The bet was only for that day and you didn't make your move. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to the armory."
"Wait, I'm also going there to talk to him, not fair!" Lily got mad.
"Okay, let's bet again, let's see who is going to get picked by him."
"Fair play, I'm in,"
*Somewhere else*
Hilly, the area was hilly as it overlooked the Onyx Headquarters. Marker and Esther was looking at the scene that occurred moments ago.
"Luke Hensmann! What a lucky man you are. So handsome that you have caused two friends to compete over you." Marker laughed out loud.
"Master, I know it's wrong to say this, but you are lucky to have me," Esther said confidently as she approached him and hugged him from behind.
"Esther, will you miss me when I'm gone to serve the Universal Council?"
"Very much, Master Marker. I can't imagine a night without you."
The two looked at each other and then their faces came closer and a kiss occurred. Then after a good minute, they broke the kiss and looked at the sunset together.
