Christopher, who normally resided in the lap of luxury, was currently resting on the shabby old sofa.
Abigail was worried as she thought he might be uncomfortable. She was unable to figure out why he was not going home.
His possessiveness and madness for her, which had once enticed her, were now causing her pain because she thought he was only doing it for the heart.
She shifted her weight and pulled the blanket up to her head, suppressing the urge to go out and check on him. A lump formed inside her stomach and rolled up to her throat, causing her to become agitated.
She pushed the blanket away from her face, her eyes wide. The more she tried to suppress the urge to go out, the more she felt numerous thorns pricking her back. It was increasingly difficult for her to keep lying on the bed.
