Returning my attention to my party, I created a portal for us leading directly to the outside world. Once everything was finished, I took one more glance at the dungeon. Too think, this is all mine now! I cannot allow anyone one else to find out about this place or me being the dungeon master for that fact. Thus, before stepping through I stated,
"Remember what we discussed earlier. I ask each of you to refrain from telling anyone not in our party what has transpired here. In the future, this dungeon will no longer exist here. When asked at the guild, remember to say we destroyed the dungeon."
"You don't have to explain anything. From what I can tell, you are a very high ranking person in elven society and are looking out for the preservation of all elves. That is more than enough for me. Just remember what you promised!! I only ask you let me study the dungeon when the time comes!"
Cavilhaugh said as a representative of our party but made sure that I knew his desire to study the dungeon in earnest. I nodded to his request and led my party out of the dungeon. Once outside, I evoked the dungeon to shrink until it was the size and shape of a ring with the design of a dragon with amethyst eyes, a phoenix with topaz eyes and a tiger with sapphire eyes biting each other's tail.
Undoing all of the countermeasures, I gathered the materials needed for said rituals and techniques. Afterwards we headed towards our golems and carriage which was still where we left them. Gathering everything up, we headed back to Breilan to inform Mayor Lucas of our accomplishments.
After 15 minutes, we arrived at the city gates greeted by fanfare and jovial shouts. The town was in a celebratory mood as they must have noticed the dungeon was gone for good. Once in the center of the town, Mayor Lucas awaited us with open arms and the biggest grin.
"Heroes of Breilan, we welcome your triumphant return!!"
The townsfolk roared as we alighted the carriage. If I didn't know better, I would have thought we were in the capital or something. The once empty streets of Breilan were now packed with people of all shapes and sizes.
Abandoned buildings were now filled with their former residents and even the destroyed city gates and derelict League of Adventurer's Guild hall was in much better shape than before. I could tell some time must have passed since we entered the dungeon. Lucas continued to smile as he answered the questions we had yet to ask.
"It has been 88 days since you all entered the dungeon. 8 days after you went in, the villagers who left all started coming back home and helped restore the town. 30 days later, priests of Light and members of the mage organizations came at the request of our now resident priest to help restore the town and surrounding farmland." Lucas paused for amount to give us some time to take it all in.
"Just 3 days ago, the dungeon stopped expelling miasma and absorbing magoi from the air. Now you have returned and a few mages noticed the dungeon disappeared right after you exited it. Within the 15 minutes it took for you to get here, we all gathered here awaiting your arrival as we have anticipated the day you would return since yesterday".
Well now, this is a welcoming change. Anyway, we spent 88 days in the dungeon which gives us 6 days to return to the guild hall back in Allenshire. Although I wanted to rest, I more importantly wanted to rest back at home and not here. Turning down Mayor Lucas' offer to stay, I provided all the effects of his ancestor and prepared for the journey home. Once leaving the town, our carriage sped up and we travelled without stopping until we arrived at Allenshire the next morning.
Of course, there were bandits along the way. But unlike on our way to Breilan, the golems did all the killing and harvesting of their sweet, delicious materials, I didn't even bother stepping out of the carriage, nor did anyone else.
It's safe to say, we fought enough assholes to last us a lifetime. Upon arriving at Allenshire that morning, we headed straight to the guild hall and waited for James to turn in our B class task. Naturally, our report would not include the finer details regarding how the dungeon was closed, but I'm sure they will understand.
"Well look at you, young'uns! Glad ta' see y'all made it back in one piece. Follow me, the Hall Master will hear your report."
James said after mysteriously appearing from the shadows. I'll never get used to how quiet this giant body builder guy is. James led us to Douglas' office where he waited patiently for our arrival. Once inside, James didn't stick around and closed the door behind himself leaving my party and Douglas in the office. Before We could mention our report, Douglas spoke up,
"It is good to see you all made it back in one piece. I have received word from the Breilan Guild Hall, they owe everything to you for not only ridding the bandits that have been terrorizing the area but closing the dungeon all within 92 days no less. Please tell me, what happened in the dungeon? Did you locate the requestor's query?"
From here, I presented our report, and relayed all that happened (all we agreed on mentioning that is). Although my poker face was flawless and everyone matched my account with their own input on what happened while we were separated, I could tell Douglas knew we were hiding something. Still, he didn't push for an answer while Anansi and Cavilhaugh were present.
"Thank you for your report. I will submit this information to our headquarters in Duxley's capital where they will forward everything to the other capital headquarters. To think, ancient monsters like Midgardsormr have invaded the dungeons. What's worse, they are attempting to cause massive dungeon breaks.
Excellent work in stopping all that even if you weren't the one's to drive the final nail in that beast's coffin. Return to the receptionist's desk and get some rest. James will present you with your rewards, and your new guild badges supporting your Silver Rank status; you've earned it!"
Anansi and Cavilhaugh cheered and headed out without even glancing at anyone or anything. Ivy, Katya, and I stayed behind after they closed the door. For there were a few private matters I needed to discuss.
