Chapter 62 - Chapter 61

Craig entered the house through the front door. When the brick came through the window, he had yanked the front door open and ran down the street, but it had been too late. The perpetrators had fled driving down the street with a loud roar.

Craig's face was like a storm, 'those fucking bastards,' he shouted, 'who would do such a thing and why? I'll fucking kill them.'

Craig walked towards the kitchen table and picked up his cell phone. He made a call to the police and briefly explained what had happened. Although he did not have faith in the police anymore, he knew it had to be done. He made another call, this time to an emergency glass fitting company.

Craig turned around and saw Andrew standing in the middle of the shards of glass looking out the window.

'You can't do that son,' Craig said. 'You'll cut yourself. Where are your shoes?'

Andrew turned around slowly. His face was grim as he looked at his mother. His eyes bounced from Emily to Patrick to Craig. 'Dad, we need to talk.' His voice sounded flat and tired.

'Just step away from the glass already and get some shoes,' Craig said. 'Emily, get us a broom to sweep up this mess.'

'Dad,' Andrew repeated, 'we need to talk.' He looked at Patrick for a moment whose expression was between total shock and anticipation.

Craig sighed and pulled out a chair from the kitchen table. 'What is it?' he asked and sat down resting his forearm and elbow on the table.

There was a tense moment of expectancy when Emily returned with the broom. She headed towards the shards of glass on the floor while Andrew carefully stepped away from them. Andrew noticed his mother's pale face and wondered if she would be able to handle more strange news, but he knew she had no choice and neither did he.

Andrew told them about his dream and how he retrieved the cube from the ground after he had dug it up with his bare hands. How his hands healed and how his bed had blood stains when he woke up. He told them about the staff he had found and that the voices in his head became more regular without any headaches. He connected his dream with the dream Emily had to clear things up for them a little. After he had told them everything there was an uneasy silence. He sort of expected it to be there after all. He could only imagine what was going through his parent's minds because he would have had trouble believing a story such as this if someone told it to him.

Craig buried his face in his hands. He got up and walked around his chair. 'You know what son, I believe you.' He said staring at Andrew. His eyes were heavy, and he seemed tired. 'Nothing about this place surprises me anymore. I'm just happy you told me about it.'

Andrew regarded Craig for a moment almost reading his thoughts and said, 'Dad, remember what that other guy, The Teacher said about a bloodline from the north.'

'Yeah, what about it?' Craig said dropping his hands where they were resting on the back of the chair.

'In my dream, the guys who got killed were the Vikings. The Vikings are from the north and something happened to me on that hill last night.'

Craig thought about it for a moment and sighed, 'I can't disagree, but what does this have to do with you or us? I don't understand.'

Andrew shook his head, 'I don't know. I'm sure it will come to light sooner than we think. Don't be scared. It doesn't bother me at all. This happened for a good reason.'

Emily had cleaned the broken glass from the floor with the help of Patrick. Craig noticed the pale look on Sarah's face. He walked towards her and gave her a hug. She held him tight. They were interrupted when there was a prominent knock on the door. Craig looked out through the broken window and saw a police van parked in the street. He waited in the doorway and recognised the inspector's face from the suicide incident a couple of weeks ago.

Francois looked equally surprised when Craig appeared at the door.

'Good morning, am I at the right house?' Francois asked.

Craig extended his hand, 'Yes you are. How are you doing Francois?'

Francois looked at Craig in disbelief for a moment as he shook his hand, 'you have a thing for drawing trouble towards you.'

'It seems like that doesn't it? Come in,' Craig said gesturing with his hand.

Craig had yet again given a full statement of what had happened. He also gave Francois a description of the perpetrators' car which Andrew added that he knew who they were. Although Francois had taken down all the details, Craig did not have much faith that anything would come forth from this case. He had an idea that it would follow the same route as the non-existing R27 case.

After Craig had given the report, Francois shook Craig's hand again. Francois extended his hand towards Andrew who was standing next to Craig. When Andrew shook Francois's hand, he instantly felt an evil current running through his veins. It was the same feeling he had when he touched the brick that flew through the window. He realised then that the throwers of the brick and Francois shared the same source of evil. Andrew could almost read Francois's mind. He could hear sadistic laughter mocking him. Without realising it Andrew had a firm grip on Francois's hand and it grew firmer by the second. Andrew looked up and saw the pale look on the inspector's face. He felt more anger building up from within. He wanted to crush the police inspector right there. Andrew heard a cracking sound and knew it was coming from Francois's useless hand. He knew it would not do him any good to hurt the inspector any further. At least he knew that he was part of something greater, the same evil cult everyone told him about. Andrew had no more doubts in his mind that his dream had been nothing less than a reality. Something was coming, and this was only the beginning. He had been given an ancient power of some sort for a specific purpose, a purpose he was not sure about yet, but he knew that soon it would surface. Somehow he was looking forward to it. Andrew released his grip while staring into Francois's eyes, almost daring. Andrew heard the children and women's screams again. His face was grim and somehow he wanted to tell the inspector to spread the message that something was coming for them. Coming for them all.

Francois had an expression of surprise and terror before he turned around and headed for his van parked in the street. Moments before he got in he looked up towards the front door where Andrew was standing. He noticed something that startled him. He saw a hatred expression on Andrew's face.

Andrew watched until the van disappeared around the corner of the street. He looked down at his hand and thought he hardly applied any muscle. Something else had given him more strength than he could ever dream of, something inside of him reaching out to destroy a particular evil. It was then that Andrew knew his mind was being poisoned. It was not a bad poison. It was a gift he needed to destroy the evil. If it was the same evil he dreamt of, then he would need a lot more than what he already had. Andrew wondered about the other thing that happened earlier when he had touched the brick, something was wrong and something was coming because what else would have so much power to shake his world within, almost shaking the ground underneath his feet?
