Serenity Williams walked into the highschool not expecting anything out of the ordinary. The dark grey sky mirrored her turbulent emotions. Her black dress moved in a way that seemed to emphasize her pain. Her long red hair was pulled back into a sever bun at the back of her head. If one didn't know better they would think the eighteen year old was on her way to a funeral.
For Serenity, she wished she was. But no, she was on her way to being married to Daniel Smith. She hated him so much. But she had no choice and her parents had made that clear. She would either marry the man she despised or move out. If she had anywhere else to go she would choose to move out.
As she made her way to her locker, across the hall from Daniel's, he was chatting away happily about what their son's name would be and if she didn't have a son that meant she cheated on him. He was talking about all the things he would expect of her as his wife and how he was excited to finally be married so they could procreate. She was only half listening to him when she felt someone jerk her arm. As she turned to look she saw Rosemary Blaze standing there with tears in her eyes as she watched Serenity with an enigmatic look.
"Very soon you will find yourself in a position of vulnerability. Trust the black wolf, he will protect you." With that she turned to go, then turned back as if she had just remembered something. "Tell him everything." Then she was gone. As abruptly as she had appeared she vanished into the crowded hallway.
"What was that about?" Daniel demanded, irritated by the interruption.
"I don't know." Serenity answered honestly. Rosemary Blaze was known for giving cryptic warnings of the future. But to Serenity's knowledge she had never been so direct about it. Usually she only said things like 'avoid the bank today' or 'perhaps a day in would do you good'. As far as anyone who wasn't a witch like her knew it was usually just a weird coincidence when some minor inconvenience occurred after ignoring her warnings. Why would she be so direct with Serenity?
"Well once we are married you won't be associating with that sort." Daniel sneered with disgust.
"Hard to associate with someone when you're dead." Serenity muttered just loud enough for him to hear.
"Excuse you!" She could feel the rage pouring off him.
"Oh, didn't I tell you? I'd rather die than be your fucking wife." She half spat. "So I'm going to put a bullet through my brain Sunday morning." He opened his mouth to say something but seemed to think better of it. "And to think, if you hadn't acted like a douch bag you could have had it all."
"Don't joke about suicide." He spat at her.
"I'm not laughing." She stated flatly. "I am going to be crystal clear on this Daniel, I despise you." With that she slammed her locker and headed for history class.
She sat next to the hottest guy in school and he smiled at her. She half smiled back and his face fell instantly. Liam Silver was well known for his philandering. Many girls claimed he was cold and distant with them after sleeping with them but he had always been so nice to Serenity and she couldn't help but like him.
"What's wrong?" He asked as if he already knew.
"I don't want to talk about it." She sniffed and wiped the tears she hadn't realized were running down her face until now.
"If you change your mind about that, I'm here for you."
"Thanks but you can't help me with this."
