Serenity woke to the smell of bacon frying and wood smoke. It was not an unpleasant smell and it reminded her that she had not eaten since lunch the day before. Her stomach gave a hollow angry growl and a chuckle from across the room brought the rest of the night into sharp focus. Had she really married Liam Silver? She bolted up right and looked around the room.
"Good morning love. I made breakfast." Liam smiled from his spot by the fire. As light streamed into the room from the windows she could now see that he was shirtless, wearing only a pair of black sweatpants that sat low on his hips. Serenity couldn't help but admire his broad shoulders and strong back as he flipped something onto two plates. "It's no morning after meal but it will do." He said as he handed her one of the plates.
"What's a morning after meal?" Serenity asked as she finally forced her eyes to meet his. He was smiling knowingly at her, as if he knew she was checking him out.
"Oh yeah let's ignore how turned on you are right now. So when a couple gets married they have the wedding feast and then they go and have their vows in private which usually leads to consummation and marking. It's incredibly intimate, or so I've heard. Then the morning after, the parents of the couple cook a large breakfast and barge into the marital room and sit on the bed with the couple between them and give marital advice and sex advice and it is super awkward for the couple. In my case it is done by all the mated couples in the pack and they take turns. We will have alot of morning after meals." He growled low in his chest.
"That must be really awkward." Serenity half smiled.
"Made even more so by the reasonable expectation that the newlyweds are naked at the time this takes place." He shuddered. "Honestly until you say something to me to make it stop it doesn't." he cringed and then chuckled as he sat next to her on the bed. "What do you think?" He asked as she took another bite of scrambled eggs.
"Best breakfast I ever had." She said and smiled at him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." He said and smiled back at her. "So the storm passed. We will leave for the pack house after breakfast." She nodded. "Just so you know my parents are eager to meet you." She paused with bacon half way to her mouth.
"They're not going to talk to us about sex, are they?"
"Not today. But I did tell them that you and I are married now. They just want to meet you." He smiled at her and she knew that everything would be okay.
At the pack house they entered a large comfortable office space with a large mahogany desk towards one wall. Serenity noticed three very large men she didn't know. One was sitting at the desk and two were standing close by it. The one behind the desk was an older version of Liam. Two young men sat on a comfortable couch opposite the desk, and them she knew, if only by sight and reputation.
The one closest to them was Markus Dragon. The other was Demitry Black. Both were looking at her as if she had grown an extra head from her stomach.
"Alpha. Sorry we're late." Liam said and tugged her between his two best friends and pulled her into his lap.
"Right. As I was saying. Liam is now mated. What about the two of you?" He looked at Markus and Demitry pointedly.
"Okay. That's not fair. She sits next to him in 80, yeah 80 percent of our classes. He had it easy." Demitry pointed out incredulously.
"And what have you done to find your mate, Demitry?" Asked one of the men she didn't know. He had his arms folded sternly across his chest. The resemblance between him and Demitry was uncanny.
"You don't have to listen to this if you don't want to." Liam whispered quietly in her ear. He must have felt how her legs clenched tight as her bladder was on the verge of exploding. She nodded and stood to go.
"Ahem!" The man Liam had addressed as Alpha fake coughed and she knew she had messed up somehow.
"May I please be excused? I need to powder my nose." She said politely.
"Just through this door." He indicated a plain wood door she had not noticed until now.
"Thank you, Alpha." She inclined her head to him as she walked through the door into the small half bath. the floor was tiled in surgical green and the counter was a pepto bismol pink that made her nauseous. The walls were bare and it had a utilitarian stainless steel paper towel dispenser that had seen better days. Despite this the cracked mirror was clean, as was everything else in the room. the beat up soap dispenser matched that of the paper towels. Upon closer inspection Serenity realized both were full, most likely they were filled regularly.
Once she was done she left the horrible room quickly. She did not want to spend longer in that nightmare-inducing horror movie scene than she absolutely had to. When she rejoined the meeting The three boys were arguing with the others in the room very loudly. She flinched back and squeaked as a vase shattered next to her head. Without warning the room went dead silent as everyone looked at Liam who had the older version of Derik by the throat.
Serenity rushed forward and grabbed hold of Liam tightly about the waist. "I-Im really tired, Liam. Can we go to our room now? Please." She whimpered and felt him relax in her arms.
"Yeah." He growled. "Let's go to our room." With that he turned and led from the room and up four flights of stairs. His room was just what she expected it to be. It was done in monochrome blue and had a very masculine feel to it. She moved to the very large bed and hopped up to sit on the edge.
"Can I get a shower?" She asked.
"Yeah. Through that door." He pointed to it and she stood to walk through it. He followed her and showed her where everything was before he left her alone to get clean.
