Chapter 41 - A Fatal Situation

The warden watched in hungry anticipation as Reign reached into his coat pocket and produced a large bag of coin, holding it temptingly in his palm as though he were dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit. The warden practically drooled on himself, and reached out to swipe it from Reign's grasp. But Reign was faster, jerking the item just out of reach at the last second. The warden frowned with irritation.

"What are you playing at?" he growled.

"This is what you want, isn't it?" Reign's voice was terrifyingly steady, and as cold as ice. His eyes were like a pair of knives boring straight through the warden's skull.

"I will have to count it to make sure it's the right amount," the warden grumbled. "Wouldn't want you shorting me on the deal."

The warden's eyes never once broke their gaze with the coin purse in prince's hand, not even when Reign slowly reached up with his other hand to untie the drawstring.

"Well why don't I give you a hand with that?"
