"Yes, you did surprisingly well," Anise added with a smile in Reign's direction. "Thank you for your help with dinner."
"It was my pleasure," he replied absently with a spoonful of stew stuffed in his cheek. But his gaze was miles away, likely imagining all the things he would like to do to the people of Evanore who had betrayed the two women sitting at the table with him.
