Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 - Never Trust a God! (1)

After talking to Lady Sakamoto, she agreed to arrange a faerie for us. She had told us that the trip was going to take a few days, so she had also prepared some meals for us.

Three days later we had arrived at the docks in Vienna City, though it wasn't directly in the city. The cocks were at a small town, just south of Vienna. We decided to take a carriage directly to Vienna, though it was a bit difficult to find someone who would take us. But we eventually found someone, the person was a huntress, by the name of Mia Quinton.

Mia had long red hair tucked into a messy ponytail and grey eyes. She was tan and had freckles across her cheeks and on her nose. She was wearing a hunter's uniform and had her bow slung across her back underneath her quiver that was full of arrows, she looked to be just slightly under 6'0.

"Thank you again, Miss.Mia. We probably wouldn't have even been able to get horses without your help," I said.

"No problem at all, besides I was looking for someone to accompany me into the forest anyway. The last time I was here, one of the guards gave me a hard time just because I wasn't direct forest-nymph decent," Mia explained.

"But why, I thought that as long as a human was some sort of descendent of a nymph they could enter," Victor said with a puzzled look on his face.

"Well, that was how it used to be…but a couple of weeks ago, a group of humans started a riot. I was in the city that day, but I was only able to hear some fighting, considering I was staying on the east side of the border."

"Hmmm, I think I might know the cause of that," I cut in, "A week ago there was an attack on Asclepius City, the attack was being led by demons from the demon king's army."

"Thats horrible! Was anyone able to catch any of the demons?" Mia asked.

"No, it was mostly just spirits and Imps. But there was a Captain, and he was accompanied by his Vice-Captain," I explained.

Demon pasts were very valuable, the novel explained how some of them were able to treat certain poisons. While others could act as paralyzers or any other kind of drug that could help with medical procedures, or if you were a part of the black market, Assassinations, and slave trade.

"I guess the demon king really means to invade this time…I guess Itzair City and Mirror City weren't just for show after all," Mia said.

"huh, May I ask, what exactly do you know about those two attacks?" I asked with a serious tone.

"I only know that They were both destroyed, thats all."

"Oh, sorry about that then. Anyways are these the places we'll get the horses at?"

The ride to the City was pretty smooth, and the scenery was beautiful. But the only thing that went wrong was actually going into the city. The guards did give Mia a hard time until I gave the guard mine and Victor's ID cards.

After I did that, the guard then bowed and apologized. I guess aristocratic titles work in other countries as well, considering that the guard then gave us a map and told us the best inn to stay at here.

The inn wasn't big, but it most certainly wasn't small either. The front desk and longe were at the trunk of a giant tree, while the actual inn part and the cafeteria were on its branches. It was incredibly nice, and was a little like the buildings of the modern world, on the inside at least.

"So, what exactly are the plans for tomorrow My Lord?" Victor asked while helping to unpack our things.

"I was thinking of going looking for a few materials, and I was also wanting to look for someone as well as a certain place."

"If I'm not being too nosy, Who and what is it that you're looking for?"

"Oh just a high-elf, and the place that I'm looking for can't exactly be described," I lied.

'In reality, you would think I was crazy if I told you, plus not many people think the place is real.'

"I see, well I hope that the search goes successfully." Victor cheered.

"I do as well, now since your done putting all of your things away, would you mind drawing a bath for me?" I asked with an innocent smile on my face.

"Haaa, Of course, M'Lord," He sighed.

Later that night after Victor was fast asleep, I put on some explorer clothes and combat boots, and I left the inn. I decided it was best that Victor didn't know I was going to get this Divine power, considering he'd probably bitch about it on the way there. And its location was better left secret since it was like a treasure trove of bones.

The Divine power that I wanted to get was called, "The Earth's Eternal Rest". It was rather befitting of its name, considering that its original owner's body was swallowed up by the earth after his death. So even if he was resurrected, he'd just die again.

In the novel, one of the demon king's commanders was able to get it, which caused Vienna to almost be destroyed, so if anything it was better for me to take it instead. Plus I also just wanted the bones of the people who tried to get the ability.

When I arrived at the cave, I noticed that there was some foliage around it, but it was just barely covering some stalactites and other rusted weapons. There was also a stream coming out of it, going into the cave there were a lot of bones by the stream, perhaps they were hoping to use the water to escape.

'Perhaps they were killed by something from the test, I wouldn't doubt it is the skeletons and other bones were the ones that did it.'

I was walking for about an hour in the cave when I finally came upon a bigger area in the cave. It was a dome-like shape and had a pool of water around what seemed to be a Skeleton, with a spike coming out of its…Ass?!

'Damn I'd hate to be that guy, it must have hurt, if he wasn't already dead that is.'

Going up towards the water I saw more stalagmites and almost no stalactites, the ones that were there were around the pool of water and the skeleton in the center. Walking through the water and up to the skeleton, I saw that the skeleton had a map and a jacket on, the jacket still had a faint symbol, it was a scale.

I stopped in front of the Skeleton for a moment after I had gotten on its platform, I noticed that there was something glowing through the holes in the jacket. I then carefully took the map from the skeleton, and after that, I opened up the jacket.

Looking at the ribcage of the skeleton, there was a glowing beige ball. It looked like it was beating, just like a heart.

'This must be how you start the test.'

I then put the map in my pouch on my side, after that, I opened the jacket more and stuck my hand into the ribcage. After I did so the light then spread to my arms, torso, legs, and then my head.

"Ugh, my head!" I groaned.

I then sat up and rubbed my temples, then I started to open my eyes by slowly blinking.

'My, that seemed like quite the fall there, are you alright?" I heard a mischievous tone in front of me, but it also had a slightly nice ring to it. One that would make you want to follow that person's every word and protect them.

"Who!?" I started.

"Careful now, you fell pretty far down, I wouldn't want you getting anymore hurt in my presence," The voice said.

I then opened my eyes and saw the owner of the voice, it was a man. He had ginger hair and greyish bangs, his eyes were also closed lightly. He had a circular-shaped crown made of cloth floating around his head, it was split when it reached his elf-like ears. The cloth around his head was white, and it had a gold pattern on it. He was also wearing gold and white robes with the same symbol I saw on the jacket on the skeleton, but much more colorful and less faded. The man was also wearing gold heels.

"Back to you're question, I am fine. But who are you and where am I?" I asked.

'It's best to act and stay calm in a situation like this.'

"Oh, I suppose I should tell you that shouldn't I?" he then trailed off, "Though as much as I would like to I can't right now," He apologized.

"Fine then, what are you, and where i am?" I asked instead.

"Well you're in my separate space, and what am I? Hmmm…Thats a pretty tough question to answer." The man responded.

"..."

'Haaaa, this guy!'

"Okay, um…Do you know how I got here?" I paused, "And what do you mean by your space?"

"Oh! Now that I can answer! This is a space where the concept of time, and reality don't exist. Now how you got here, I pulled you here!" He smiled at me.

Now this creature in front of me wasn't making any sense, but I had to listen to him anyway. If what he said was true, then he is very dangerous, as any mythology says, I should try not to anger him least annoy him too much.

"You…pulled me here?" I asked showing my confusion on my face.

"Yes I did, I saw that you were about to take part in the test for my Divine Power. So, I decided to pull you into my space for a chat." He then continued, "And I don't chat with just anyone, only certain people I sense are worthy of my power."

"And you decided I was worthy?" He nodded his head, "But why? I'm not special or worthy in any way."

"Oh, my friend it's not about anything like that! In fact, you are quite special indeed, you just haven't realized it," he said putting a smile full of mischievous on his face.

'I definitely should be cautious with him.'

"...What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Heh, you think I don't know about you? Mr.Transmigrator~"

"!"

"Don't act so surprised now! After all, you know that this is a space where time and reality don't exist." He announced, "Plus I'm sure you haven't looked at yourself yet."

He then snapped his fingers and a mirror appeared.

"What is this for?" I asked

"Well, why don't you get up and take a look in it?" He ordered.

At that moment I then stood up and walked over to the mirror, what I saw next shocked me greatly. What I saw through the mirror was my original body. I had short jet-black hair with streaks of grey in it from stress, I also had brown eyes. I was wearing my old military uniform, with my favorite combat boots.

'Damn it, I forgot how old I looked.'

"How did you? Just what is going on here, who exactly are you?" I questioned.

"I suppose I could tell you now, alright I g

uess I will." He then trailed off.

"...Well?"

"Right! My name is Hunapo my child, and I am the one that brought you here," Hunapo announced.
