"Just give up already Ambrose! This isn't going to get you anywhere!"
There was the sound of blades clashing and lots of footsteps, other than those sounds it would be pure silence.
"It doesn't matter! I've already gotten so far, so it's not like I could just back down now!" Ambrose said as he flew higher into the air, he then threw an arch of green fire towards his enemy.
"Even if you fail in the end?!" a man with white hair then used two swords that cut through the fire, two daggers connected by a chain then tried to stab him in the back, but he luckily evaded.
"Yes even if I fail, as long as I get revenge!" Ambrose then snapped his fingers and spikes made of bones popped out of the ground, "Tell me, hero, would you not do the same for revenge?"
"..." The Hero then jumped into the air and swung his swords at Ambrose, but it just barely grazed him and Ambrose knocked the Hero aside.
"Ugh!" The hero then slammed into the wall of the throne room, "You are right, I would kill for revenge. But I would only kill that one person, NOT MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE!"
The hero then rushed forward, while getting ready to strike Ambrose with all of his might. Ambrose then summoned spears made of dead mana, and he shot them at the hero. The hero was lucky enough to dodge the ones that almost hit him, in Ambrose's fit of annoyance he continued to launch attacks at the hero, while the hero either evaded or paireyed them.
"Damn it, STOP DOGING YOU HAVĚŤ!" The hero then jumped up into the air, higher than last time, and swung his attack at Ambrose.
Ambrose was not lucky enough to block the attack, but he caught both of the Hero's swords. The hero then infused his attack with his aura and blue fire, which burned Ambrose's hands.
"Ugh!" He grunted, "I'll admit you are indeed strong, but not strong enough!" He then surrounded his hands in green fire and started to push the hero back. That then resulted in the ground around them erupting up.
"Just give up Ambrose, you won't win this."
"HAHAHA, You think I care about winning!? Even if I lose you won't be able to kill me, you won't even be able to disable me!"
"Disable you? HA! That's not what I plan to do." The Hero then used the energy that both of the two men's attacks made, and jumped away. When far enough away he turned his two swords into a double-edged spear, then a bow.
"Do you really think that that punny bow will work on me?" Ambrose scoffed.
"Why of course," The hero then created an arrow of elemental energy.
"!" Ambrose's face then thensed up, "AN ARROW OF LIGHT!? HOW DO YOU HAVE THAT ELEMENT, YOU'RE NOT EVEN A SAINT!"
"Don't have to be, as long as I defeat you!"Â
After the hero shot the arrow of light up into the air, it separated into hundreds of little copies of itself. Ambrose tried his best to dodge them all, but much to his avail some of them still hit him.
"UGH!" Ambrose groaned, "Damn it, don't think that this little attack is enough to stop me!"Â
Ambrose then lunged forward, using his wings to launch himself towards the hero. When he was about five feet away from the hero, the hero then dashed forward, and as Ambrose created a scythe of dead mana and swung it at him, he disappeared. Ambrose then looked up in shock, and there the hero was, his swords in a double-edged spear shrouded in the light element. The next thing Ambrose knew, was that the Hero had twirled his spear and turned it back into two swords, and had then stabbed Ambrose's two wings.
"ARGH!" Ambrose howled in pain, the light element was now spreading through his wings and stopped just as it reached his back. His wings were paralyzed.
Ambrose was not on his hands and knees on the floor, growling in pain, "be thankful that I didn't cut them off," the Hero said coldly.
"Screw…You!" Ambrose managed to get out, even when he was in immense pain.
"Haaa, I told you, you would lose, so why didn't you just give up?" The hero sighed.
"T-Tell me…Would you give up to an enemy who was trying to kill you…and get in the way…of you're revenge?" He managed to say, while he sat onto his knees and clutched his now paralyzed wings.
"..." The hero glanced away for a second in thought, "You have a point, apologies I guess."
"Ha!" Ambrose scoffed once again, "If you were sorry…You would have accepted my deal…and we both would now be somewhere else minding our own business," Ambrose said with a raspy voice.
"Perhaps, but knowing you, you'd most likely either scam me…or stab me in the back."
Ambrose smiled, "Well you're not entirely wrong, I'll give you that," He then let his arms fall to his sides and his hands relax, "So, what are you gonna do now?"
"I suppose I should do what I said, but I have some questions to ask you first."
"Ho? You're not going to kill me yet?" He teased.
"Warriors honor I guess," The Hero responded.
Ambrose then chuckled, "Well if thats the case, then would you answer some of my questions?" He smiled a mischievous smile.
"...Fine, but only once I'm done asking mine."
"Good," Ambrose then reached his hand out towards the Hero.
"What's this for?"
"A deal, I gotta make sure you keep your word some way."
"Haaaa," The hero sighed and shook the winged man's hand.
"Alright, with that done, what is your first question?" Ambrose asked.
"How did you become a demon? Were you born one, did you devour one, what way did you become one?"
"HA! So you curious about that of all things? I'll tell you, I killed a demon King and absorbed his energy. After that, my body went through some…changes."
"Changes?" The Hero asked.
"Heh, well I didn't always have wings, and my hands weren't always black from dead mana…" Ambrose trailed off.
"Now that you bring that up, how did your hands turn black?" He asked in return.
"That subject is a bit…`Touchy` for me. All I am willing to tell you is that I was poisoned and now about 50% of my blood is dead mana." Ambrose admitted.
"Your blood is 50% dead mana!? How is that possible?" The Hero asked, he was genuinely surprised. For all he knew you could die by having Dead mana injected into your veins, even if you were a species that could absorb and manipulate it.
"Let's just say that I had it injected directly into my veins, and because of my curse, it didn't kill me. Instead, I've had to live the rest of my life in pain, but I've been able to bear it," Ambrose replied.
"I see…thank you for telling me that, I'll make sure to keep it in mind." The hero then thought for a moment about what question he should ask next, "What was your race before you became a demon?"
"My race? I was a half dark-elf, why do you ask?"
"Well it's just that you don't have the qualities of one except for you're hair, when I saw you and your abilities I first thought that you were some sort of fallen angel, but I then saw that you could manipulate dead mana, so I got curious." He explained.
"...Let's just say that one of my parents' DNA was stronger than the other, resulting in my freakish looks…" Ambrose lamented.
After a couple more rounds of questions, the hero finally asked one that had been bothering him for a while, "So, what's your name?"
"Hehe, you already know my name-" Ambrose started but was interrupted.
"I mean you're real, FULL name. Not Ambrose or Demon King, of King of Monsters. I want to know the name that you're parents gifted you." The Hero conformed.
"...It's…Lev, Lev Ambrose. And since I told you mine, it's only fair that you tell me yours," The Demon King smiled.
"I-"
"Warriors Honor" He mocked.
"Haaaa, fine I'll tell you my name. It's Atlas Clyyford."
"Hm, that's a nice name, I'll make sure to remember it well."
"Why, so that if you can come back again you'll get revenge?" Atlas teased.
"HAHAHA! You are a funny one, I don't want revenge for this, I know you did this for the greater good, so I won't hold this against you," Ambrose conformed.
"Well that's good to know… do you have any more questions? I'm done asking mine…" Atlas paused.
"...It's not a question exactly, more like a request," He admitted.
"What is it, I'll try my best to fulfill it."
"...My daggers, could you take them to the Eyphah Kingdom for me? They were my mothers, and I'd like you to take them to her grave for me…" Ambrose lamented, he had a look of longing on his face.
"Isn't that kingdom in ruins? I can take them there for you, though I wasn't planning on going to that kingdom. But I will need to know her name and where the tombstone is," Atlas said.
"There is no need, you'll be able to find it on your own when you arrive…"
"...Alright, is there anything else?"
"...I suppose, a thank you?"
"Huh?! What for?" Atlas was startled.
"You said you were going to kill me right? I've longed for death for a very long time, knowing that it would never come for me. But now with that ability of yours, I can now be free of this never-ending hell," Ambrose stopped to steady his breathing from crying, "So thank you, truly."
"...Of course, I'll try to make this as painless as possible."
As tears rolled down the Demon King's face, he put his head down. Atlas then put one of his swords down and shrouded the other in light, as he did that he lifted it into the air, but he paused for a second. Perhaps it was to pity for a newfound friend, or relief that he was finally getting somewhere in his goals, but he felt a hinge of relief.
After pausing for a couple of seconds, he took another deep breath and finally swung his sword down through the Fallen Demon's neck. Ambrose finally felt relief as the sword hit his neck, he prayed to his mother and cursed his father.
"May to find peace somewhere," The Hero then stabbed his sword that was used to cut The Demon King's head into the ground in front of him. He also picked up of head and put it on the owner's lap, as a sign of respect, and put his other sword back into his scabarred.
The hero then turned around and walked away, back into the dark corridor of the castle, to h
is party that was waiting for him outside. He didn't turn back and didn't notice the tears running down his cheeks, he was crying silently, and unaware.
